Norton 360 automatic backup stops after a few days

I've added a backupset to my Norton 360 which automatically backups my system each morning. But after a week or 2 the automtic backup won't work anymore. From that point on i can manually start the same backupset. A few days later this also stops working with the message that norton can not find the external drive. If it that point i create a new backupset everything if fine a gain for a while.

But of course this is not what i expect from a automatic backup system. the version i use is 20.2.0.19 . I even had the problem with earlier versions as well. Is there a better solution to this problem except creating a new backupset? All help is kindly appreciated.

Welcome,

A few questions before I attempt any suggestions. What is your backup destination? Also, your operating system?

When you get a chance you might want to update 360 to the current version.

Thanks

Backup destination is an external HD formatted with FAT32. (where thinking about reformatting to NTFS) OS is Win7 Home Premium SP 1 an Norton 360 has version 20.2.0.19.

Hi,

The reformat can't hurt. Does it stay connected? If not then it needs to be connected BEFORE boot up.

That's when the device inventory is made and device drivers loaded. Miss that and the system may not find the drive.
