Despite adjusting the Firewall settings on two of our computers to Allow for Age of Empires II: Conquerors, I still cannot connect either one to a multiplayer game. I disabled the firewall and was able to connect that way but I'm not willing to leave that door open. What is the deal? Browsing the internet for a solution basically says I should ditch Norton due to such issues but I have used Norton for years and have not had a problem until recently with a multiplayer setup. However, my kids enjoy Age of Empires greatly and I will ditch Norton if I can't resolve this issue (renewal is coming up in a couple months). I can't understand why it is not a clear cut Allow situation - it should be, at least. Any known solutions?
Hi,
Are the devices connected to a local network, could you please share what kind of network is the game being tried?
Also, can you please check whether that particular device is shown in the network security map? Goto Settings->My network->Network security map->Configure. Just check if the device is shown there and what is the status of the connection. If the device is not shown just go ahead and manually add it.
And then just click on the configure button pertaining to the trust control and just check if the network manually added is listed there.
Please try this and let us know if that worked.

Prasanna
The devices are a desktop PC (HP) running Windows Vista and two laptops (a Compaq running Windows XP and a Toshiba running Windows 7). The network is a wireless LAN.
I checked the network security map to make sure all devices were showing up and configured. I then went to trust control and had to add the devices manually on each. I also gave each device Full Trust on the others. After doing this, I am still not able to get the multiplayer game to work.
Hello titustodd
Have you checked to see if the game is fully patched and that you are trying to connect to servers with the same patch.? Are you able to play the game offline, that is single player? Is the game a legit game with a legit key if a key is needed for this game. Have you allowed the game thru your router, that is either port forwarded or port triggered the router? Have you checked the smart firewall to see if the game's .exe is listed in the firewall under program control? Have you listed the game in the Silent Mode if that is availiable in N360. I use NIS 2012, so I am not familiar with all the settings available in N360. Are you trying to play the game thru another gaming program such as GameSpy Arcade or xfire or comrade or directly thru the game?
Does each computer have it's own CD for the game?
The first thing I did was make sure all patches were installed for the game. It is one our family has played often in the past with no issues on the same systems, router and modem. The issue has come up after some Norton software updates.
Well, I let you know but you've never responded back.

Please try the solution mentioned here in the following Symantec KB:
Let us know if that worked for you for games.
