Norton 360 blocking sites

I'm a new user of Norton 360, looks like it is blocking certain websites from opening. Please guide me how to disable it completely or better configure it that so that it blocks only malicious sites.

Hi Get2vinod,

We have options to disable to unblock malicious sites, but it not recommended to unblock malicious sites becuase it will harm your system with threats.

Go to settings in N360 Main UI-> settings->uncheck the checkbox for safe surfing

Thanks,

Senthil

Hi get2vinod,

Welcome to Norton Community!

Are you getting a block page in your browser when you try to navigate via your browser? Does it say 'Malicious website blocked' ?

If so, it means that the page is identified to be containing some threats and hence you are being blocked from visiting that site. It is recommended not to visit those sites.

But if you strongly feel that a site is safe and you don't want it to be blocked, you can click 'Continue to site any way' link at the bottom of the block pgae. But this option works only for that particular windows session. That  is, once you logoff your windows session and try to navigate back to the same site, you will gain be blocked. This is for security reasons.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Umai

Thank You Senthil Kumar and Umai.

Actually I'm not getting any page saying the URL is blocked but it just throws the error page as if the URL is not found.

Just noticed that even unchecking the safe surfing is not helping. It says google chrome could not connect, it's the same case with explorer as well.

Alright. So just to see if I am on the same page you are not able to access some websites and it throws up the error message that URL is not found.

Can you tell us if you are trying to access any secured websites and getting this error or with other websites as well ?

Also let us know the websites which you are unable to access .

Anyways I will provide you with the steps to disable the firewall to see if this is Norton which cause this problem.

Open Norton 360 and click on settings on the top and uncheck smart firewall on the right hand side and choose 15 minutes to turn it off.

Try to access these pages and see if you are able to . If not this issue should not be caused by Our product.

Also you can check for the presence of any other antivirus products in your computer like Microsoft Security Essentials,AVG,ZOne Alarm,Mcafee and list goes on.

If yes,remove them and check.

Let me know the results.Cheers !

Hi get2vinod,

Please check the following also.

1.  Try deleting the local cache and cookies in  Internet Explorer as well as Chrome.

2. Also check if your system date is  correct . If your system date is wrong, sometimes you will not be able to connect to https:// sites.

Thanks,

Umai
