Norton 360 blocks my HP LaserJet CP1525nw from printing

I have Norton 360 version 5.1.0.29.

My printer is connected wireless.

It prints fine after installation, then after a reboot, it will not print until I uninstall it and reinstall.

I understand that Norton 360 looks at this printer as a threat so blocks it from printing.

What can I do to resolve t his problem?

Hi thphelps,

Open Norton Security Map and make sure that your wireless network is showing as secure and that the Network Trust Level is "Shared" or "Full Trust."  Click the icon for the printer (it may be listed as a generic device) and edit the Device Trust Level, if necessary, so that it uses the Network Trust Level or uses "Full Trust."

Here is a screenshot of the network security map.

As SendOfJive said, on the right side (where mine shows computer "Dave") click once on the printer and then down below click edit to change the trust.

The left had side change the drop down box to Wireless (Mine is on a LAN) then click the edit button, on the nect screen click the edit button again and change that trust leval as well.

Dave,

When I open my security map, the printer does not show up.  Do you know if I should add it with name and IP address?

If you check the HP Website for your specific printer and Wireless connection you will find exactly that with details on how to go about getting the IP address from the printer .......

Since my printer is close to my wireless router, I just hardwired it to the router.  This made it show up in the security map so I could set it up as you suggest.  I am hoping this does the trick.

I have the IP address from the printer.  Thanks all for the help.

It could be one of the wireless security settings in the router that you need to reconfigure to allow another device on the network.

If you need to manually add a device you should always do it by MAC address rather than IP address because the IP address can change, the MAC is permanent.

Also, the printer should have 2 network adapters and therefore 2 MAC addresses, one for the LAN and one for the WiFi.

You are welcome -- the HP support site is very good .... again experience shows that hardwiring and getting it working is the best prelim to getting wireless going.
