I used to be a Norton fan, but for the last years Norton is beating badly on my confidence. I wouldn´t recommend it at all.
I have the full subscription of Norton 360, with 10 licenses, I and installed it on Windows PC (1x), iMac (1x), and Android devices (8x).
-the Parental Control to restrict the time for my kids doesn´t work. It´s a joke; never blocks the devices. FYI, the Tech Support wasn't able to solve the issue after many trials and tests.
-the Norton Vault to store passwords ==> [Removed], I've to pay for the Lastpass subscription to have something useful.
-The Cloud backup is useless. Many free options for both Mac and Windows does a much better job.
-The "Norton Utilities" that only runs on Windows. Even the free CCleaner does a better job.
Not enough?
I updated my iMac to Big Sur, and I´ve two NAS, a Synology and an OMV. Since then:
-when the Time Machine backup starts to either of the NAS, OR
-I try to save any Outlook attachment to either of the NAS, OR
-I try to download a file from the internet to either of the NAS
Norton blocks ALL network connections. I can´t access anything on my network from my iMac. Not even to ping another device.
To get the network connection again, iMac requires a restart. I tried to leave the Mac for over 30min waiting for the network to resume, and no way, even disabling the Norton. Only restarting to bring the things back to normal.
Not to mention that when Norton was working, the internet browsing became unbearably slow.
I dig into many forums, site, blogs, etc..., and tons of people are complaining about similar issues for months without a decent solution. The solution? DISABLE Payed Norton Firewall and turn on iMac's FREE firewall, and live with the annoyance of Norton's pop-up complaining that the firewall is disabled.
The solution for the Norton pop-up annoyance? REMOVE [Removed]Norton 360 and install a free Anti-Virus.
I'm so disappointed. I'm paying for a Firewall that crashes my network connection, an unusable password vault, a [Removed] parental control that doesn't work, a "Norton InUtilities" that doesn't run on Mac, [Removed] Cloud Backup, and a "pop-up generator" that just [Removed].
NO WAY I'll renew my subscription. I'm counting the days to get rid of all of this Norton [Removed]for life.
