I have been using N360 (v.1.3.2.4.) some time now with XP2 with several infrequent reinstallations of the op.system, each time the ‘WMI’ live update has failed to install. Running the hotfix tool has given errors such as: "object doesn’t support this property or method - when clicking ok it occurs 4 more times (curiously numbered- 1,2,3, & 5 !). The others suggestions from Symantec have been register msxml3.dll file - not successful. Run live update manually (via ‘luall’ in Run box) - didn’t allow installation again. Also suggested checking LU settings fron control panel all ok. Recently just had another notification to download from Live update - failed again. Dont know how important this update is and whether it compromises the security. Has anyone had any experience of this and better yet found any solutions ? The most recent suggestion from Symantec has suggested removing N360 and reinstalling - I am reluctant to do this at the moment because this is a fairly new installation of N360 and XP2 and have doubts it will achieve anything. Regards, Malco.
hi malco - sorry to hear about the LiveUpdate problem. i ran into error 5 a few times and one of them did resolve to an 1812. in my case, the hotfix was successful - think it was a firewall patch. it required IE, naturally - is that what you used and was it IE6 or 7? also, did you go through One Click Support or through a web document for 1812? a screen shot would be helpful.
and one last question - when you say registering msxml3.dll was not successful, do you mean that the attempt to do so failed or that it succeeded but didn't help?
thanks,
mel
