I bought a new laptop about a year ago, running Windows 8.1. At the same time I bought a Norton 360 multi-device antivirus with a 1 year subscription. However, after setting up my laptop I saw there was a one year (if I remember correctly) free trial for Norton 360 Premier. I figured the smart thing to do would be to activate that, let it run out, then install the one that I bought. So I did just that, and two days ago I uninstalled the trial version and installed the one I bought. It ran fine for about a day and a half, but an hour ago I got a notification that I needed to restart my computer for Norton 360 Premier to begin protecting it. I looked on my desktop and saw a shortcut for Norton 360 Premier, the same one I had before, in addition to the Norton 360 Premier I installed. I was extremely confused, but I figured Norton 360 had just updated itself to the latest version, so I restarted. However, now when I click on Norton 360, the message at the bottom says my subscription has expired and is asking me to renew, despite the fact that hours ago it was working just fine and I had 365 days left on my subscription. It seems I can still run scans, but Norton Security toolbar on Chrome is being inconsistent, and stays grayed out for a while before turning green. I also keep getting the notification to renew my subscription.
What exactly is going on? I would really appreciate some advice, and information on how to fix this, or at least get back the subscription I had. I've been using Norton for several years now, mostly without problem, but if it turns out I wasted money on buying an antivirus, which isn't cheap, for nothing, I will seriously consider uninstalling Norton completely and sticking to Avast.
