Norton 360 fails to open, NRnR fails, cannot manual uninstall

Hi,

 

Norton 360 seems to have frozen completely and does not boot up when the laptop is started. I followed other threads and tried to run the NRnR tool but this fails and asks me to manually uninstall. I cannot do this at Uninstall or Change Programs, from the start menu using uninstall norton. I cannot open Norton using the start menu either. 

 

Windows Defender is turned off (saw this mentioned on another thread). 

I have tried using system restore and this has failed to work too. 

 

Any ideas?

Some additional information; 

 

OS is Windows 7, laptop is fairly new (3-4 months) Sony Viao, previous preloaded AV was MacAfee which was removed prior to installation.

 

Recently had an issue where Norton 360 failed to update properly, looked at the forum and it suggested to run the NRnR tool, I reinstalled successfully but this no longer works.

Fixed, found Norton Removal tool which deleted and I manually installed it again.
