Norton 360 failure

Some months ago I did the annual update of Norton 360 and for several months it worked well. Within a couple of days of a Norton auto-install of a big update the computer froze on the USER select page. I took the computer into for a fix and the geek said Norton was "Broken" and he removed it. (charging $100.). I reinstalled the program and on the first Live-Update it put in 22 updates. Then I got "Error 3048.3" I went through the lengthy procedure to fix it. It worked for one afternoon, then the computer failed to start. The Windows 7 auto-recovery managed to recover but Live-Update was not working. I opened the "help" tab; Norton automatically recovered Live-update. Now, since I really did nothing to change Norton, I am waiting for the next failure.

I am this || far from trashing Norton and getting another product.
