Norton 360 for OSX 10.9 Mavericks

Hi there,

Can anybody tell me when Norton 360 will be made compatible with OSX 10.9 Mavericks? I am running the Developer Preview (#5) and have not been able to run Norton 360 since...

Or perhaps there is a workaround that allows me to install the current version?

Thanks!

Lucien Dol.

I'm sorry, but I don't think this a particularly helpful response from a Norton empolyee.  There was nothing to indicate that the product wouldn't work with the developer preview, and the question the member asked was simply when Norton would be supporting the new operating system, or if there was a temporary workaround.  Your response to his post was quite dismissive, and certainly didn't answer the question.

Hi,

Apologies for not clearly answering the question.

-If you have had NIS 5.5 installed on 10.8 and thereafter you upgraded to 10.9, NIS 5.5 should be present in 10.9 too.

-If you did a clean install of 10.9 DP, NIS 5.5 won't install on it.

Thanks,

Thanks, Sunilkumar, but that's still not an answer to my question: when will a Mavericks-compatible version of Norton 360 be released?

Kind regards,

Lucien.

More great Mac support from Symantec.

I hear that Kaspersky will support Mavericks from the day it's released, perhaps everyone should use that instead?

Or perhaps Symantec employees should try a little bit harder no to piss-off their installed user base?

Cheers, Jon

Hi Lucien,

Apologies for any confusion here!  I just posted a more complete announcement to the Forum documenting our OS X 10.9 support timeframe.  You can find it here:

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-for-Mac/Apple-OS-X-10-9-and-NIS-for-Mac-Support/td-p/1027079

The bottom line is we DO plan to support OS X 10.9 on all NIS for Mac products (including those accessed via N360MD and N1) the day Apple releases the new OS X.  We have the latest version ready and waiting and are testing it against each Dev build dropped by Apple.

Thank you for your question, and please let me know if any further clarification is needed.

When will support for 10.9 be ready to purchase? It seems odd not to have it available the same week as the release, no? Or at least to have a patch available.

NIS 5.6 with support for OSX 10.9 is already available. You can download it from here
