Norton 360 Freezes

After I open the main menu and Click Norton Tasks, the next page opens with "Norton Tasks"at bottom right of the page but I cannot proceed after I click Tasks;the page freezes and I am not able to even close the page,with 100 % CPU used up by Norton, the Task Manager Applications tab shows "Norton 360 Not Responding"; in fact the whole computer hangs and the computer can be taken out of this state only after restarting it. I would appreciate advice to troubleshoout this issue and recommendation for a corrective action other that uninstalling and reinstalling the product, which I am tired of resorting to.

Please tell us which version of N 360 you are running.  (Support > About)

 

Also operating system and SP#, as well as browser and version may also help.

I am using the latest version of Norton 360, 20.1....; my OS is Windows XP Pro SP 3. My browser is IE 8.0

First of of all 20.1 is not the latest versiopn of N 360 - it is version 20.2.0.19 - so you need to run LiveUpdate (rebooting when requested), untilliveupdate responds with the specific words "no updates found". 

After you get that done, on the main page, click on Support and the Get support and let it runa dn see if it fixes anything.
