I found the norton.gadget folder in c:\program files\windows sidebar\gagets folder if I remember correctly. I have tried all the steps you people mentioned but nothing! It seems the norton gadget is cursed! I cannot enable it in any way!
Arghhh! :-(

Anyone with other ideas?
I contacted norton support via the chat and they tried for 3 hours to find solution but still no luck...
They even contacted me by phone, but they couldn't solve the problem...
Not very happy with the support I 've got from India...
:(
Hi!
I found a solution for you ,i had the same problem..
This is work for me ( Win7 x64)
1. In the task manager kill the sidebar.exe process
2. Go to your norton installation directory then go to this directory Engine64\5.0.0.125\Gadgets
3. There is a Norton.Gadget directory , copy that to C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\ AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets
There is a settings.ini file in C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\ AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar , open settings.ini and write this line before the [Hashes] line.
PrivateSetting_GadgetName="C:%5CUsers%5CYOURNAMEHERE%5CAppData%5CLocal%5CMicrosoft%5CWindows%20Sidebar%5CGadgets%5CNorton.Gadget"
Its important to kill sidebar.exe before this process because you cant save the ini file.
If all done , in the desktop right click then gadgets , and the norton gadget shuld be there!
Good Luck, sorry for my english im from hungary.
I gave it a try and it didn't work for me.
After you add the Norton Gadget to the Windows Sidebar Gadget Directory, delete the settings.ini file. It will re-create itself and you will have the Norton Gadget.
Deleted the ini file tho then it deletes the line that was added to the ini file. I tried it both ways and it didn't work.
