I loaded onto my laptop (windows 7) Norton 360 5, and it seams to be working fine. My desktop (windows XP) will not run a complete scan. It stops part way through and gives me an error message of "module: 8921, error: 229". Does anyone know how to fix this?
I rebooted, and tried again, but I get the same error message. It is not able to connect to the LiveUpdate server for some reason. I also tried to "chat" about this issue, and while signing on, it kept telling me that "the pid parameter cannot be blank", whatever that means (there were NO blanks spaces)...
Hi,
can you please tell us the exact version of your Norton product?
1. Open the main window
2. Click on Help & Support -> About menu
3. On the About window find the version number (it will look like this: 5.0.0.125)
According to the Symantec Support Articles, this 8921,229 error is some kind of Live Update error....
Thanks!
Please post a screenshot of the error message you receive and confirm the version of Norton 360. Try to run the DNS Fix tool mentioned in the following Symantec Support Article:
http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080818112851EN
When the tool finishes, run LiveUpdate. If the problem persists, try to run Norton Power Eraser tool and check if it detects any threats? You can find instructions in the link given below:
If it detects any threats, let us know the details before you fix it. If the Norton Power Eraser tool didn't detect any threat, then restart your computer in Safe Mode and then try to run a LiveUpdate/full system scan with Norton 360.
