For the last two days Norton 360 has been experiencing periods of extreme disk usage either very high read activity or very high write activity. At the moment Norton has a write activity acording to the resource monitor of between 6 and 6.2 million B/s this has been going on for about half an hour. Attempting to access the recent history frequently causes the program to crash. When I can access the recent history their are no scans that correspond to the periods of activity. At the same time there is no network activity so I'm not sure what Norton is writing and where it is writing from.
I have noticed that sometimes during the periods of high activity there are Medium warnings about Trusteer Rapport trying to access Norton 360 process data such as the following
Category: Norton Product Tamper Protection

I am running windows 8.1 64 Bit and have no other security software running other than Norton 360 and Trusteer Rapport.
If any further information would be helpful please let me know, I want to get this sorted as is is resulting in a fairly dramatic slowdown in my computer when it occurs
