Norton 360 interfering with web access?

I've looked at a friends PC and laptop and neither can log on to Hotmail – it just brings up a blank white page that goes no further.

Both run Norton 360 which I'm not familiar with, but notice that it puts a whole lot of icons next to links on the page on IE. There are sometimes other issues where you can't click on the search field on the web page.

I launched Chrome which didn't have any extensions (is this where Norton would add something?) but it had similar issues to IE above.

How can I turn off the N360 component that interferes with the web pages? There are confusing labels for the stuff Norton does so I can't tell what does what.

Is there a firewall within N360 that might be interfering with Hotmail access? I've also read that Vault can interferes with browsers. So I want to turn these off individually to check for changes. Are there any other things I could check or switch off?

So in summary, I want to switch individual components off and see if that fixes anything. N360 is so minimalist obvious menu options can't be found.

thanks
