det virkede fint for mig så lidt er forbedret men måske ikke alt
Has anyone noticed with latest version as of yesterday. Auto udated to 25.7.10308 yesterday, no notification, no alert etc. Now evertime do reboot/restart pop-up now states new network discovered - stil the same one as always has been for past 4/5 years - same as previous computer.
Just had a snout about - never seen these options before:
Would these mean option 3 will follow Windows Netwok settings? Whenever Norton says I am on Public - Windows netwoking always states I am on PRIVATE
Use Windows settings mode.
SA
Trying on Smart Mode which appears to have been the default setting - did set it to windows Network but changed my mind then went barck to Smart mode but did not do a reboot/restart.
Thanks for response - see how it goes.
I found a solution that works for me. Open laptop, turn off VPN, check I am online ok by visiting a website and then switch VPN back on. Works, but shouldn’t have to do it. Looks like it’s an issue with the Norton VPN. Well done Norton for your lack of help and a solution!
see my reply to Yolanda - turn the VPN off, then check can connect to internet and switch back on. Rubbish solution, but better than Norton’s lack of a solution
Perhaps this may give answers:
fwiw ~ as per Norton Chat:
In v24+, a Private network may switch to Public if the device fails trust checks (like losing compliance), if there’s a mismatch in network profile, or due to admin policy overrides. It can also happen after network changes, system reboots, or updates that reset trust validation.
In v24+, a Public network may switch to Private if the device passes trust checks (e.g. becomes compliant or domain-joined), matches a trusted network profile, or receives an admin policy update that reclassifies it. It can also happen after reconnecting to a known secure network or post-validation.
Connecting to a VPN can trigger v24+ to reclassify a Public network as Private, especially if the VPN is recognized as secure or matches a trusted profile. This is because VPNs often route traffic through a known, controlled environment—meeting trust criteria.

fwiw ~ as per Norton Chat:
In v24+ we have the option of Private and Public network.
In v24+ Private network is the same as v22 Full Trust
In v24+, setting the network to Private network functions similarly to Full Trust in v22, and Device Trust behaves the same way as it did in v22 as well.
In v24+, the Device Trust settings are designed to mirror the behavior from v22, but with a few enhancements for clarity and control.
In v22, you could configure Device Trust at a per-user level, allowing for more granular control—like enabling trust for specific users or allowing overrides.
In v24+, Device Trust is still a feature, but it’s no longer a separate toggle. Instead, it’s automatically enforced when a network is set to Private. This means only trusted, compliant devices can access resources—just like Full Trust in v22. The shift makes trust enforcement simpler and more secure.

We’re hoping Norton publishes and maintains an online, current, in-depth, indexed, searchable, illustrated/videos…Norton 360 v24+ User Guide
In the dark ages (up to 2021), Norton used to have an inbuilt HELP section that referenced a PDF document with-in the app folder. That PDF document could be copied & pasted elsewhere and read at your leisure ouside Norton - the last one I have is October 2021. I suppose it would have involved amendments perhaps with each update, but Norton could do it then - why not now?
Just opened - 84 pages long - version 22.21.10.41
I can’t find a ‘Network Trust’; screen that looks anything like this
are you Norton 360 for Windows v24+?
this = meaning ?
Like the one headed Network Trust in the first screenshot above
this thread → opening post is from Sep 2024
this pic here is from Norton 360 v22.x
Update: Had setting on ‘Windows Settings Mode’ - seems to be fairly clear description - this afternoon NORTON set it to PUBLIC - Windows is set to PRIVATE so these settings do NOT work - why provide options then NORTON - why not make the 'Change to PRIVATE button actually work. About time NORTON sorted all these issues out.. Just have to see all the new forum postings every day.
