I have recently added Norton to my laptop, and I, so far, have not managed to complete a full system scan. Twice it froze up mid scan, and this morning it completed the scan, but froze up whilst processing it!

Can you elaborate on "freeze up" please? Did the laptop stop responding, Norton stop responding, the scan bar froze in place, the hard drive and CPU showed little or no activity, etc?
Also, can you tell us a little more about your system? What OS and service pack level? 32 bit or 64bit? What version of N360 do you have installed? What previous antivirus / antimalware did you have installed and how did you remove it (them)?

update display adapters...had similar problem ..running fine after update...update display adapters and see what happens

It's very possible to have more than a display driver problem.

Same thing is happening to me and two different Norton Techs have failed me miserably. I have done the uninstall reinstall only to continue the same problems. Ran all the Norton tools and they check fine without issue. When I have completed the reinstalls for a brief few hours everything looks fine and normal then I can shutdown and reboot or come back to computer some hours later and the same dilemna resurfaces in that I can not open up my Norton 360 or utilize it. Also my icons leave my task bar and sometimes my desktop. When I go to open via start menu program files I can not open there neither.
I have ran the updates and even successful scans once after each reinstall and everything checks good, but after giving some time the same problems resurface.
Please help!???
