Norton 360/LifeLock Upgrade Experience

Interesting there is not yet a LifeLock and/or Norton 360/LifeLock forum.

Also interesting is there does not appear to be anyway to provide direct feedback to Norton/Symantec.

No problems with Norton Security and few issues with Password manager.  But:

Norton 360/LifeLock shortfalls

As a long-time user of Norton Products I am distressed by the poor quality of the Norton 360/Lifelock and poor customer support.  While the security (and password) products you provide appear to be effective and useful as always, the additional extensions of 360 and LifeLock are virtually useless.

I initially signed up for LifeLock when it came out as a free upgrade.  It was so annoying and useless I soon shut it off because it was so immature.  I expected the bugs to get worked out and it might possibly become a useful Norton product in the future.  Does not seem to have happened.

After what appeared to be enough time for fixes to take effect I tried again.  Getting constant (and annoying) reminders for upgrades to 360 and LifeLock at a very low costs, I decided to try it again.  The results were miserable.  After 2 weeks of trying to upgrade include several online attempts, chats and phone calls, none of which worked (possibly due to the prior signup) I gave up again.  Problems at the time were confusing and wrong webpages, links which did not work, chat support which was not able to see problems and have to refer me to non-functioning or ultimately failing automated system,  tech support which failed and transferred me back to the same useless automated systems.

However, ever optimistic and expecting the best and since I am always interested in seeing the latest technology, I tried again when the latest “offer” appeared.  Miraculously this time it went through without a hitch.

Unfortunately, it was not worth the wait or effort.  None of the 360 or LifeLock tools appear mature.  LifeLock does not appear to work with Bing/Edge, selecting the check alerts results in :

 Hmmm...can’t reach this page

Tracking it down in Chrome was successful but not impressive.  Mostly just information we already knew.  Ultimately the fatal flaw is you do not provide coverage for couples.  Currently zero chance of Lifelock being renewed.

Secure VPN is easily turned on and might work but there are no obvious instruction on how to use it.  Also a Fail.

Cloud Backup is an embarrassment.  Do-Loop of getting it setup navigating a pathetic visual reCAPTCHA with low quality photos, difficult for older eyes, just to confirm a sign in to my account which I am already logged in to; and which upon success, sends you back to the original link to activate your online storage.  Again, a total fail.

I suspect that Parental Controls are likely as poorly conceived and implemented but happily we do not have that issue to be concerned with.

After at least a quarter century of satisfactory service from Norton/Symantec at home and work I am surprised at the poor-quality implementation of potentially useful products (all of which are successfully fielded elsewhere) and premature and generally non-functioning marketing system.

Needless to say, I will not be extending my 360 LifeLock subscription.  While I would like to keep these functions under one roof, it will not be Norton/LifeLock.

I agree with everything here. Backup goes on a loop and the stupid Captcha pictures are also on a loop. They are of poor quality pictures too small and I KNOW what an AMERICAN (as the gentleman from the UK pointed out)  school bus, tractor and truck look like. This system was not tested !!!

Caps remark made me laugh. Thanks

After reading all of the above comments, I could not possibly agree more. It has cost me a small fortune in time, money and daily aggravation in an attempt to have one of the highest cybersecurity protections available to civilians. Next time, I may try the "other" countries' civilian software. They produce software for English speaking people too,

I have just moved to 360 after many years with various other Norton security products.  Yes there has been problems on and off but I've stuck with them.  Now I am faced with a new problem.  Lifelock/CAPCHA.  Why oh why should UK subscribers (particularly those with failing eyesight like me) be subjected to this verification system as part of the login process to Lifelock aspects of the program when we login with our email and password?  I don't understand the need for it.  The photos are often very poor quality taken at distance and the questions are in American English (ie in the UK we understand a Tractor to be a working vehicle on a farm and we don't have Fire Hydrants scattered all over the place either etc etc). I could go on forever about CAPTCHA inadequacies but you get my point.

Does any know of a way to get this stupid system turned off as it is driving me nuts and taking up too much of my time trying to second guess what the are looking for.  Most times I fail however.  It isn't necessary so stop it Norton.

As Mentioned earlier I have just moved over to 360 and wonder how many more gremlins I'm going to find in this product.  I hope not many or I'll need to jump ship after all these years and find something that doesn't appear cobbled together that is still in beta format.

Followup on can't connect VPN above. Got ahold of product support and broken English speaker said he would send me link to help fix 360 VPN. The link took me back to page on their site I had been working with before. NOTHING  on that page referenced LifelLock 360 and the solution was to download another copy  of the 360 install. Can't believe how screwed up the site has become. I found a stand alone download from Norton 360 LifeLock for the VPN and downloaded. The sucker worked, But for how long? Torture! I have had security suites from Norton for the past 10 years off and on but this edition has been too challenging. Looking for another suite. I'm 80 years old and have not had a good experience here. I DOUBT THAT A NORTON MODERATOR WILL SEE THIS BUT MAYBE THEY WILL SEE THESE CAPS!!!!!!!!!!

I have used Norton products for 6-8 years. All on Mac products and Norton 360 LifeLock is an addition I thought would be great. The LifeLock portion works well (I had LifeLock before I "upgraded") but the VPN is a non player. Support helped me once and said it was fixed which it did for 1 day. Now I can't reconnect using My Norton. The function is highlighted in yellow tab and I've clicked on it without success. Reinstalled the 360 Lifelock application with the VPN I guess because the VPN module is not separate and I still can't reconnect. Like others have said there doesn't appear to be a forum for the 360 LifeLock comments. Most of the forums are for PREVIOUS VERSIONS of Norton. Time for me to move on to another security package and standalone VPN!!!

I forgot to mention if you're looking for a VPN service I would highly recommend ExpressVPN. I used Norton Wi-Fi Security for a while but it's limited to Smartphones. With ExpressVPN you can use the same subscription on a PC, Smartphone and specific Routers and it's fast. I use it mainly for streaming TV content.

A well written and to the point post. I'm also a long time user of different Norton Products, my first was Norton Ghost in 2008, a backup system which I was to learn had a lot of serious bugs which never got fixed and eventually the product was discontinued. I also agree it's virtually impossible to get any product support and this forum seems to be for just customers to help each other. There seem to be no moderaters from Norton to answer questions. I have been using Norton 360 since 2013 and have not had any real issues with it, but never wanted the Lifelock add-on. My current issue is with Norton Utilities a product I switched over to after I got frustrated with the bugs that developed over the years in System Mechanic.and never got fixed. To my surprise I found Norton Utilities is a Norton rebranded version of System Mechanic complete with all the same bugs. You just can't win except by voting with your feet !!!
