I hope someone can help. A friend of mine has Norton 360 on her home PC. It has Windows XP OS. Her ISP account gets throttled down after 12 gb per month data download according to the terms of her contract with the ISP.
In December, she renewed her Norton 360 subscription and since that time there have been huge data downloads recorded by her ISP. We have had some reports run by the ISP and they show that between 4 Feb and 11 Feb she downloaded 4.22 gb from liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com.
In the week 28 Jan to 4 Feb, she downloaded 10.02 gb from sites associated with liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com.
In the week 21 Jan to 28 Jan, she downloaded 7.43 gb from sites associated with liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com.
I spoke with the Norton helpdesk people and they told me that liveupdate virus definition downloads could be the cause of such huge data consumption but this does not help my friend. Her ISP will only allow 12 gb per month data usage and she is chewing this up in a matter of days just through some automatic linking to liveupdate that she can't control.
I think that the data being chewed up seems excessive and we can't work out how to stop this - we would really appreciate some help from anyone who can offer suggestions.
Thanks in advance
Andrew
