Hello Forum,
I'm here because of this response to my original post.
Hi Radula:
The topic of this thread is Win XP SP3 shutdown problems when Norton v22.5 products are installed on computers with a FAT32 file system and has been marked as Solved. It sounds like your problem is related to the Norton AntiSpam feature, so please create a new topic in the NIS/N360/NAV board so your issue receives better exposure. Be sure to let us know if your subscription is for N360 or N360 Premium, and please confirm that you are using v22.5.4.24 (check at Help | About from your Norton GUI). Also, make sure that all definitions are fully patched by re-booting your computer and running manual LiveUpdates until no further updates are available, and then check Outlook again.
While you're waiting for a reply to your thread you can also try disabling AntiSpam as a temporary workaround. In v22 products I believe you can find this setting at Settings | Detailed Settings | AntiSpam | Client Integration, and turn off the integration for Outlook 2002.

So here's my first request for help (that prompted the response, above): Great. I'm snowed under with work and have to keep updating norton (schmorton) 360. It's crashed and Outlook 2002 has killed its antispam addin. n360.exe is running at 100% making my fan run crazy, especially when I click "send/receive" to check email. My fan is freaking out (as am I!) The event viewer application log was corrupted...funny that happened when Outlook reported that Norton caused a 'serious error'. So I can't send a screen shot of the event viewer. Oh please fix this! Running xp sp3 (OK, I know.) Outlook 2002 and that horrid Norton 360 22.5.4.24 that updated 5 updates at 4:00 PM (about), 3 updates before that, and 4 or 5 more earlier. Can I somehow go back to last week's when it worked slightly better? I need my computer to work. I can play with Norton someday after I'm dead. OK?I got to the 'wrong' spot, actually after 3 tries, when I clicked : "Having problems after a Windows or Norton update? We can help." Sorry if it's wrong. Not an official Norton tech, but a tiny business owner fighting Norton so I can use my computer.
So Imacri pointed me here. I have no idea where to post this and no confidence anything will ever be fixed until I find a better antivirus software, but hey, like puttin' a message in a bottle, here goes!
So, I have XP sp3, NTSF, Norton 360 (see upload) 22.5.4.24, it does not mention 'Premium'. I have rebooted numerous times after running LiveUpdate manually numerous times (7, I believe) and FINALLY, after running Get Support numerous times (it's the only way I've found to make it quit using 100% resources), each time it told me there was no problem until the last time, when it 'fixed' one nebulous 'item' and prompted to restart again. Then I ran LiveUpdate again and restarted again. Norton is still disabled in Outlook, even though I have 3 times gone to the addins manager and told it to restart and restarted Outlook and the computer each time. I see that I should go to Norton to restart it, but I guess I'll leave it off. I have begun turning on Silent Mode for 4 hours to 1 day when I have to work since Norton kills my machine so often.
So, since it killed Outlook and then the entire computer by going to 100% over and over and made the fan run insanely, rather like it did for about 4 months earlier this year and it corrupted the event viewer's applications log (again), which forum handles all of those things?
Oh, yeah, BTW, SafeWeb is stilled messed up on my laptop, running Windows 8.1. Have to hit refresh to make it show up. Very slow. Very frustrating. But that topic I have on a different forum page and I'm sick of thinking and writing about it.
Thank you. Sorry, but I'm furious from it hindering me and killing my productivity all day.
