We bought the laptop brand new. They installed norton on it and a year later we have upgraded. So as far as I am aware and from what I can see there is no other programme on there.
Go ahead and try your Quick scan again. We may have fixed something with the chkdsk scan.
Who were the 'They' that installed Norton?
Check in your Start menu to see if there are any entries for security software trials that may have been included with the computer. Look in folders such as accessories, or a folder with the name of your computer manufacturer.
If you find anything, let us know and we will try to find an uninstall utility, just in case.
Hello :)
I have just run the quick scan again under the yellow arrow and its been running for about 15 minutes and is still running...
I looked in the places you suggested and I cannot see anything from what I know, we got the computer from PC world who installed the norton antivirus originally. I have taken some screen shots of the uninstall option so you can see some of the programmes, you may recognise some odd ones that aren't ment to be there that I don't know about.
So that pop-up that came up, is that a virus then? As I googled it and it said it is a virus?

Its still running the 'quick scan' and now this has come up again :(

Back up your data now.
It definitely seems you have a hard disk about to fail.
See if there is any warrantee on the hard drive. Go to the Western Digital web site to look for a diagnostic tool to check the health of your hard drive.
You can check with the retailer who sold you the computer to see if they can help.
