I have used Little Snitch to monitor my network connections for years.
I use Norton 360 to watch for viruses.
But now Norton is saying that since I haven't enabled network monitoring my setup isn't finished.
The problem is that the dialog saying that I have to enable network monitoring has no way out and is modal so I can't tell Norton to do a scan unless I authorize Norton to monitor my network traffic.
How do I fix this?
Thanks for any help.
In my case "Network Monitoring" is buggy. I have to quit it to get on the internet.
I upgraded and now have the same issue. Does "Network Monitoring" mean that Norton/Lifelock has the ability to track my web browsing? Build a schema of my internal network? Potentailly allow access to other nodes/assets on my network? Track email and/or email recipients? Capture logins to other web sites such as healthcare, banking and financial, governmental?
I use a VPN recommended by my security consultants and also operate under governmental regulatory oversight - if Norton/Lifelock can monitor or track my activity and if I cannot use my selected vpn I potentially face legal and liability risk.
I am unable to determine from any information on the Norton site what "Network Monitoring" means, but recent BigTech approaches to user privacy gives me zero comfort. The issue is not just whether Norton does any of this now. The issue is whether monitoring access gives them the ability to do so.
