Norton 360 Premier. Desktop link stops working, no icon in bottom right for updates, no access to id vault. I'm on Vista
After running Norton Removal tool and resinstalling Norton several times, with no success (it disappears again when I log off, even though it is on my machine), I went on the Norton chat. They apparently sorted it out with the remote access - 4 times! Each time telling me it would now be fine, which it isn't, the last time was last night - 11/11/15 (previously 8/11). Each time they also ran the Removal Tool and reinstalled, and tested it by restarting - seemed ok. But then today, again, no Norton. This time I checked if Norton Removal Tool had, indeed, removed 'all remnants' of Norton ( as the agent told me it would) but no there are loads of files in all sorts of places. So is this the problem?
So what can I do? I can't keep going onto Norton Chat every day (1.5 hours) or downloading and reinstalling every day. I've paid good money and I want a service.
And can someone tell me if I'm still protected whilst I'm on the internet/email if I use these without being able to open Norton?
Of course I'm unable to run the Live Update (as told by the first agent), I'm unable to run scans..... etc etc.... What should I do? I'm not a computer expert.
Should I just forget about Norton and go to another product? Or should I throw my perfectly useable, if somewhat slow, computer away?
