I just purchased Norton 360 Premier a few days ago. I'm having a problem with it waking up my screensaver. I have version 20.2.0.19. I've been looking around on the boards and it seems this had been a problem for years and I'm not seeing much for fixes for it. I've shut down auto back up and placed scans on manual and still have not been able to stop the issue.
Thank you for responding. So far today I think I have it working now. What would happen is my screen saver would come up normally after no use like it should. Norton 360 would then start doing its idle tasks as it's supposed to. One of the tasks that Norton was doing in the back round during the idle time would wake up my screen stopping the screen saver and showing the desk top again. The cycle time would be 7minutes before screen saver comes up as I have it set. My screen saver would run 5-10 seconds then stop showing the desktop and for a quick second a Norton message box over my system clock on the task bar. This would repeat over and over. I was turning my monitor off until I could figure it out because I didn't want my icons burning into my screen. The Norton message box was to quick for me to see what it was telling me, It was more of a flicker and then gone. Checking the message boards I was seeing this issue with alot of the Norton products not just this one, and the dates went back pretty far.
Any way I started turning tasks off one and two at a time and finally my screen saver is staying up until I wake the computer. To get it working right now I have these things turned off;
Backup, Remote Management, Norton Task Notification, High Usage Alerts for Disc and Handles, Power Saving Mode, Product Security items Non-Admins Access to Settings and Settings Password Protection, Silent Mode, and both items for Firefox Cleanup.
What I'm starting to do now is slowly turn stuff back on to seen what is triggering the wake up. I believe it is going to be Norton Task Notification and Firefox Cleanup that is triggering it. I'll definitely post what I find for everyone. This was getting to be a very annoying problem LOL.

Well I'm kinda at a loss now. I've been able to turn everything back on to the defaults and all is running properly. Have to give it some time and see if it acts up again or not. I don't know why all of a sudden its okay after programing almost everything to off and then turning things back on.
Okay it did it again after about an hour from my last post. I've again shut off Firefox Cleanups, Task Scheduling, and Norton Task Notification. Will wait and see.
Well since shutting off those functions everything has been working fine. I'm just going to leave them off. I don't need the Firefox cleanup because I have the browser set to erase cookies and history automaticaly when closed. I don't use Internet Explorer and the settings on that are set same as firefox so I dont need the Task Scheduling, and I'm not to worried about Task Notification as long as I'm told when something bad tried to intrude or something. More info on the computer it is a Dell XPS with Windows XP Home Edition SP3. Firefox is version 16 and Explorer is 8. Hope this helps someone.
Will somebody from Symantec tell me why my screensaver is constantly being interrupted? This has only been a problem since I downloaded the new version.
If your waiting for Symantec themselves to help, I don't believe your gonna get any, but since I shut off Firefox Cleanups, Task Scheduling, Norton Task Notification and Norton Backup I haven't had an issue with the screen saver any more. Once in a while I'll get the whatever host program it is that stops responding at shut down but I had that with almost all Symanec programs throughout the years and have gotten immune to it. The screensaver problem I was either gonna fix, get fixed, or get rid of Norton for good over because I wasn't gonna have my screen go bad from their errors. Hopefuly if you try this it will work for you too until we see a patch all of a sudden apear that fixes it.
