I just did what Subash yold me to do. Are you saying that I’m going to have un-install again?!..
Huwyngr: Yes it’s a Windows 7 PC but it should still detect other devices whether they’re Windows or not like it was doing before the 360 upgrade.
Devices perhaps but I'm not sure about the Networking if you are using Homegroup. That is very WIN 7 to WIN 7 specific.
I thought your problem was that the network was not showing these non-Windows 7 devices.
There's no valid reason that I know of to retain Homegroup as the name of your network so if all else fails you might trying changing the network to Workgroup.
Now I’m getting confused lol I just want my PC and devices doing what they were doing before which was sharing media files through Homegroup and being able to see each other.
OK -- Stick with the others please.
I was picking up something that I have run into since you seemed to have stalled and be unhappy about multiple reinstallations which are unfortunately an integral part of troubleshooting.

I am only suggesting if you did not use one of the removal tools there may be remnants of an old install that may be causing your problems. A complete reinstall as I noted might solve the problems you are having.
Hi Hugh,
It's not that I don't appreciate the intended help and attention I've recieved so far, I do. It's just that I feel like I'm wasting my time here. I've got one emloyee telling me to use one method and then another telling me I should have used another. Then I'm having to explain again that I just have the one Windows 7 PC and two non Windows devices that I want to see each other again like before via Homegroup. It's Monday morning and I'm already late for work due to oversleeping. I was on this problem from 8AM yesterday morning till 11PM last night. I just feel like I'm having my precious time wasted.
I just want someone who knows what they're talking about and who is familiar with this problem to help me resolve it asap rather than having me chase my tail as it appears to be quite a common problem like I said in my initial post.
I'll try the removal tool when I get back from work.
Thanks
Larry
Hi Larry
Sorr for the delay...I'm having Network issues for the past one week its not stable. The steps i had suggested you, will work if Norton is the problem in your Issue. To make sure i had asked you to check after Removing N360P in one of my previous posts. We had excluded the Default gateway which is the mediator in the homegroup between devices, We created individual rules for those devices with the IP's, Still a no go. Can you plz let us know what is the result when Norton is not running ?
(after uninstalling)
I've uninstalled a couple of times using the RnR tool that was on the link given a few posts ago. And yes the problem still appears to be the same. I ran the Homegroup troubleshooter again also just to double check and this was after creating a new Homegroup and it also couldn't come up with any answers.
However, I've noticed under "media streaming options" that "only" my PC is listed under "local network"? When I change this to "all networks" it shows me a list that consists of my PC, what appears to be three instances of my HomeGroup and two "unkown devices" which I'm assuming are the PS3 and the Android device.
Could this be a possible link? Firstly shouldn't they all be on the same network and secondly why are there three versions of the Homegroup on the list?
Thanks again.
PS I'd also like to apologise to the other guys for snapping this morning. I got up on the wrong side of bed as I was late. I really appreciate you all trying to help me.
EDIT: I've also just noticed that in Windows Explorer, My PC is under a network called WORKGROUP like Hugh suggested earlier. Two media devices [PC] AllShare and what I'm strongly assuming is my Homegroup are on my Virgin Media Network. Along with two devices under "Network Infrastructure" NETGEAR VMDG480 and an Internet gateway device. A final device which is just listed under "Other devices" shares the same name as the PC and is also connected to the Virgin Media network.
I don't know if this further helps?
Larry,
I understand how you feel but doing troubleshooting via an internet connection so without seeing what is happening is difficult.
I only made my suggestion of checking the network names since I had encountered it and ata that point and with a Subject saying << .... no Home Group or Home Network >> it seemed worth checking out.
BTW Only Names in Red are Norton employees -- the rest of us here are users just like you trying to help with out own experience; the ones with the Guru in their ID do have access to other Norton Staff and some technical help but we are not magicians!
I hope you resolve this soon.
I just have the one Windows 7 PC and two non Windows devices that I want to see each other again like before via Homegroup.
As someone mentioned earlier, Homegroup is a Windows 7-to-Windows 7-only function, so this statement is unclear.
Do you have an actual Homegroup created? If so, delete it and re-create it. I had to do this on one of my Win7 boxes to get it to reconnect to the other Win7 Homegroups.
Well why was it working previously if I only have one Win 7 PC? Plus my Android and PS3 used to access it. Yes I’ve re created it a few times.
Anybody??
Larry,
"Ours not to reason why, ours just to .... "
It's awfully hard to say why something did work in the past -- so many things change including Windows Updates and the two devices you mention.
Is it working now ?
No mate. Still the same. The Homegroup is there but the devices cant see it anymore still and “it” can’t see the devices… :-l
And you won't try what several have referred to -- creating the network as Workgroup or LarrysPlace or .... anything but Homegroup WHICH IS WINDOWS 7 SPECIFIC.
Maybe it has been seen by your other devices before ...... and maybe Microsoft discovered that and thought it a security hole and fixed it ... or maybe .... who knows?
What matters is that it is not working now and in troubleshooting one really needs to follow suggestions even if only to find they don't resolve the problem.
Ok then. What do you suggest and let’s start from there…
Your non-Windows 7 devices did not see the Homegroup; they may have seen shares, but not the Homegroup.
You have to use Advanced Sharing settings, not Homegroup settings.
How are your shares set up?
How are Advance Sharing settings configured?
Larry,
Thanks for understanding.
I'll leave you with those with more detailed knowledge than I have on the best way to get from here to there with the minimum inconvenience.

Is Homegroup deemed as a media server? Because whenever the Android device or Playstation found them, they were labelled as "Homegroup" with a Homegroup Windows icon. As I originally said I've changed nothing in the last month expet upgrading from 360 5.0 to 6.0. So I'm struggling to understand why it isn't working now or why if HomeGroup is a "Windows 7 only" feature, why my other devices detected and utilised it before and not just mere shared media folders? I'm sorry but it just doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
