Norton 360 - Problems with backup to local network drive

Dear Community,

I'm hoping you can help me with a backup problem. I recently purchased a network disk and have setup Norton 360 (5.2.0.13) to backup my PC onto the new disk. When I run the back, it will progress for a while and then fail, telling me:

"There is a backup problem.Make sure the destination drive or device is connected and then try again."

Under details, I have a medium severity error for the Backup performed to Y: (Y: is the mapped network drive for the network disk). Looking down through the details I can see all the files that have been backup successfully until the one that was being processed when the failure occured.

If I then review the entire security history log, I can see that every time the backup fails with this error, it is coincident with another error preceeding it in the log.

Unauthorized access blocked (Access Process Data)

from

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONHOST.EXE

Which I gather is a common enough log entry from the tamper protection and nothing to be concerned over in isolation. It would appear at face value from the log entries however, that the CONHOST event is potentially responsible for tripping up the backup.

Any help you could give me to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards

Rich

Thanks HarryP,

The backup set that fails was already created in this way. I am uprading to V6 and will create a new back up set via this method and let you know if I still have the same problem.

Thanks

Rich

Upgrading to V6 fixed it ! The exisitng backup set ran to completion without alteration :-)
