Norton 360 slows down my laptop

Norton 360 doesn't boots up my laptop performance, contrary  slow down my laptop. Everytime, when my laptop get started, I need to wait more than 8 mins. I tried to switch off a lots startup program, it seem useless. Especially "COLLECTING COMMUNITY STATS" keep running and this status totally dragging my labtop down. I switched off Norton Community Watch, it seem useless.

Anyone, could you please help me up! I am, now, really want to refund this product and I am so dispointed to this software.  Thank you for your times!

Thanks for reply, my norton 360 version : 5.1.0.29

Do you use the backup feature? Sometimes it can slow sown the PC during startup.

Please try this out:

1. Open Norton 360

2. Click on Settings

3. On the right side disable backup

4. Save Settings

5. Close Norton 360

6. Reboot

Let us know the results.

I already disabled the backup and Pc tuneup. The problems still persisting.  Everytime, when i opened startup manager, on right upper window, COLLECTING COMMUNITY STATS is running and my laptop totally hanging. Do you know how to switch it off.

In the administrative settings, I already turned off the norton community watch, but why it still collecting cimunuty stats?

Thank you

The one question I've not seen asked here is; what are your PC specs, it may be something related to this; if the PC is fairly new or high-spec, then it should be fine, but if you've got a computer that barely runs Windows XP; then it may be that the PC is either old or just needs a simple upgrade.

This window is totally different from Community Watch. The stats are related to the SONAR and Reputation technologies Norton has.

If you do not open the startup manager, does the PC start slowly again?

Also as Scott wrote, can you give us some specs about your machine? (processor, memory)

Intel I7 CPU Q720 @ 1.60ghz,RAM: 4Gb DDR3.

OS is Windows 7 Home Premium x64 with Service Pack 1.

If  I stay away from  startup manager, it will not hanging the pc.

Your hardware should not have problems with Norton....

And it is also a bit strange that only startup manager cause this trouble.

When did you installed Norton 360 v5 on your system? And what was your previous product on the machine before 360v5? If an earlier Norton product, did you just installed that over with the actual one?

one month ago, i installed the Norton 360. This is the first anti-virus I installed to this machine.

I assume this PC is very new :). Was Norton 360 preinstalled on the system? Or did you installed it manually?

If the second, was there any preinstalled AV software on the machine?

Or is there now any? Sometimes Microsoft Security Essentials can be installed via Windows Update. You should check that one in the Start Menu.

Intially, none of any anti-virus was installed into this system and there is not any preinstalled antivirus sofware.

I just checked, Microsoft Security Essentials is not installed in the system.

Please try this. Maybe some files have been damaged, and that can cause troubles...
