Norton 360 Turned Off Randomly And Wont Open

Hello,

When turning on my computer today I got the flag message in my bottom right corner saying that Windows Defense and Norton 360 are disabled. I don't know why this has happened but either way I managed to have Windows Defense working again but Norton 360 is still not able to turn on when I am asked if I want to run Norton 360\Engine\5.2.2.3\WSCStub.exe and say that I do,  nothing happens. When I try to open Norton 360 from the start menu nothing happens. When trying to open it by going to Start then hovering over the arrow next to Norton 360 and go to "Open Norton 360" I get the error "Norton 360\Engine64\20.2.0.19\uistub.exe Unspecified Error". I already tried the "regsvr32 WMIUTILS.DLL" fix that was suggested in other threads but it didn't work. I am running Windows 7.

Thanks for any help,

Cheddar

Check that your system date and time are correct.

When you install 360, Windows defender should be turned off as part of the installation routines.

Does restarting Windows fix this?

Try openning Norton from the icon in the system tray. Right click and click Get Support to try to run  Autofix to check your installation and fix what it finds.

Date and time are correct.

When I turned on my computer this morning, Windows Defender was turned off again anyway.

No it does not.

The Norton icon isn't in my system tray. Pretty sure it used to be.

Do you now or have you ever had another security program on your computer? If so, you will have to remove it with the removal tool for that program.

If this is not an issue, Try running the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool.

Download the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool from here   www.norton.com/nrnr
If you use Identity Safe, backup/export your data. Use the Csv format.
Run the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool.
Reboot.
Run LiveUpdate manually a few times, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are available.

Try to log into your Identity Safe. If you can, you are done. If not, Import your Identity Safe data.

Pleae let us know how you get on.

That seemed to work. Thanks.

Glad to hear you have things working again.

Just for clarification, was it another security program you ininstalled, or the reinstall of Norton that fixed the issue?

Removing and reinstalling Norton 360 worked.

Thanks
