Norton 360 Update 22.8.1.14 Problems

I have received the first part (engine only)  of the latest 22.8.1.14 update, which has effectively disabled any access to my existing version of Norton 360 and prevents me from running any scans or running Live Update. It therefore worrying to say the least, that I have to, (according to the associated update pages elsewhere), run Live Update and a full reboot several times in order to complete the installation, which at the moment I simply cannot do. As I cannot access Live Update or carry out any scans there is an obvious concern that my virus definitions may not be up to date.

If anyone has any advice, or help to give me it would be gratefully appreciated.
