I have had the Norton 360 for several years. When I use the login to identity safe it was pretty responsive to opening up. Now after I have upgraded the 360. The log in box never appears and I have to go to the desk top to do so. To access the saved log in is just as bad it takes forever for it to appear once I am logged in. Hope someone can help
What kind of licence is the 1 year licence of yours? Because most licences you can buy is for 3 PCs, and then you don't need the upgrade for the others, just change/add the product key for them.
You can check which licence you have at www.mynortonaccount.com.
the licence i have for them were for the standard norton antivirus but one was good for a year and the other for 2 years.now i want to upgrade to norton 360 and im told to add to the norton with over a yr left i have to phone into norton and have them add the additional time to the new norton.but they want to charge me $39 to do it for me.
im just asking if anyone knows how it can be done without this extra charge which used to be free.may not have a choice.

For the program change upgrade you must pay :( .... NAV is much cheaper then 360...
I think you heard about the upgrade where you can get ie. for NAV2008 the NAV 2009 update. (The same by 360, if you have 2.0, you can anytime upgrade to 3.0 if the new version is came.) But you can do it only if you have a valid subscription, because you "don't pay" for the program, you buy a subscription to get all the updates, virusdefs, support...etc.
So if you just want a version upgrade, just download the new 2009 setup and use it with your previous valid key. But if you want to go from NAV to 360, you have to pay the difference between the two subscription.
For the last 2 days, I've been trying to update my Norton 360. I've even had 2 chats with wonderful tech. After following all the instructions, even downloading firefox, still no updates or upgrades. I'm totally frustrated! Does anyone have a solution?
Do you mean the LiveUpdate for definitions etc or do you mean going say from V 4 to V 5.
I'm not sure how Firefox comes into it .....
Can you explain exactly what you are trying to achieve, how you are doing it and what goes wrong, with the exact wording of any error messages you may get.
And it will help to know the version and the Windows you are using as asked already.
I currently have version #2.5.0.5. As you can see, It's been awhile. My subscription is up to date. The Tech yesterday, suggested downloading Mozilla Firefox, then trying to download the upgrade of version 5. Well, I'm up to 4 N360Downloader.exe and still have no upgrade. Just Wonderful!
My current version is 2.5.0.5. My spyware, et al, is red. I go to norton.com/nuc to get the upgrade, receive the AutoDetectPkg.exe, then the N360Downloader.exe. After that I see the Norton Downloaded Manger telling me it can't automatically download and I must click on new browser line. Do that, have done it for 3 days now. Am extremely disappointed that I'm not protected against spyware & viruses. I deactivated my Windows firewall, got rid of pop up stoppers. The reason I'm using Mozilla Firefox to download Norton, is that yesterday's online chat Tech suggested to use it. It is faster downloading now. Before I used Windows Internet Explorer. She said that might be interfering with the download. Soooo now what?

Welcome Grams,
If I'm reading all of this correctly your current version subscription [2.5.0.5], a bit out of date, is also expired [everything turned red]. It might be easier to clear out all of the current stuff and start fresh. Download the Norton Removal Tool and after you uninstall 360 from the control panel, run it and reboot. If you're not sure everything is cleaned out run the NRT again and reboot. Now you should be able to get a copy of the current version of 360 and go from there. I'm guessing that you will need to spring for the subscription fee.
Hope this helps.
Nope, my subscription according to Norton is updated. Therefore, I'm a little leery of removing it. Only the virus & spyware button is red. The other 3 are green.
grams -- that is really old so I suggest that you follow this route:
Uninstall NIS 360 that you have.as below
Clean up with the Norton Removal Tool as below
Install N 360 not using the Download Manager (do you have a recently fast, reliable network connection or are you on dialup for example?) but using the correct file as below.
Personally I would use Internet Explorer if that is what you are used to -- what version are you using?
What version of Windows are you using and especially what Service packs are installed (System Information will tell you that. You can't install Norton unless it has:
Operating Systems Supported
Microsoft® Windows® XP (32-bit) with Service Pack 2 or later Home/Professional/Media Center
Microsoft® Windows Vista® (32-bit and 64-bit) Starter/Home Basic/Home Premium/Business /Ultimate
Microsoft® Windows® 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) Starter/Home Basic/Home Premium/Professional/Ultimate
Please let us know the answers to the outstandingquestions about your system before you go on but here is the way you would go:
Make sure you have a copy of the KEY to activate your Norton 360 -- if you created a MyNortonAccount on line it will be there.
Uninstall Norton using the usual Windows uninstaller and restart the computer.
Download and run the Norton Removal Tool:
This link: Symantec Norton Removal Tool. will direct you to the current Symantec Norton Removal Tool.
Download the Norton 360 installer file to a place on your computer where you can find and then Run the file you have downloaded after the download is complete.
New N360 V5: Click on the link that matches your version:
Norton 360 v5 Standard: http://www.norton.com/n360s_5/ << version with 2GB of online storage
Norton 360 v5 Premier: http://www.norton_com/n360p_5/ << version with 25GB of online storage
Make sure you get the right version since the keys are not interchangeable. SAVE the file where you can find it -- do not run it from the download site when Windows asks what you want to do.
You can download that file on any computer and transfer it to a thumbdrive to install on another.
When it asks you to activate it you can click on Subscribe or Renew and enter the key there. If you get a message that you have exceeded the permitted number of activations don't worry -- just come and tell us and we will give you the link to sort that out while you are still protected with a trial installation.
Run Live Update several times with a reboot in between each until it tells you that you are fully uptodate.
Let us know how it goes and if you have any questions
BUT Please answer the outstanding questions before starting that clean up and installation -- I just wanted to let you know that we were doing it a different way that I find more reliable especially with massive upgrades.
Welcome
Version 6 of 360 changed the way the ID Safe login is displayed. There is now a bar at the top of your browser that drops down when there is a log in page, and at the right side is where to look for Login or Validate. Then the IDSafe log in page will pop up.
Thank you for your help, I use this bar to log into my two hotmail/live accounts so I will give the other sites a go too.

If you are changing products you need to purchase a new copy of the product you want.
It would also be adviseable to use the Norton Removal Tool to clean up your system before installing NIS. Download it from here www.norton.com/nrt.
Be sure to back up your Identity Safe data if you use that feature.
Also remember to run LiveUpdate after installation, rebooting as necessary until no updates are available.
Hi everyone
I have to renew my Norton 360, but I want replace the 360 with the Norton Internet security. Can I purchase NIS renew version or do I have to purchase a new NIS license ?
Than you for your help
Norton Safe Web and Norton Safe Search are 2 different extensions. Yes both extensions are free even though your Norton subscription has been expired. If you have Norton Safe Search extension enabled then only websites marked as safe will be shown. For Norton Safe Web extension you will be warned for potential malicious websites or unsafe websites. I am using only Norton Password Manager extension and Norton Safe Web extension. Norton Safe Search extension is collaborate with ASK search engine. If you don’t want your default homepage to be changed I suggest you not to install Norton Safe Search extension, not really important.
Um, is this what you're seeing?
