Sometimes it takes some time for a scan to wrap up, before another one can be started. If you go into Task Manager, Ctrl+Alt+Delete, then select ScanStub.exe and end the process. Then you can start a new scan. (You will have to go into ‘Settings’ first and deselect ‘SymProtect Tamper Protection’.

I tried those choices. But that did not change anything. This machine is remotely located and has not been scanned since I installed Norton 360 v. 2 a while ago.

What happens when you go into Tasks>Run Scans>Comprehensive Scan. If it says another scan is already running, try going into task manager again, ctrl+alt+delete, and end any instances of scanstub.exe, the try to run the scan again.  Again, under 'settings' you will have to have 'symprotect tamper protection' unticked.

If this still fails, go into  PC Security (on the main interface)>View Details>Virus and Spyware Scan>More Info, and see when the last scan was actually run, and how many files were scanned.

If I cancel the scan and start over again after deleting scanstub.exe process, same problem. It will go for over 12 hours and not finish. I have Windows Power Options set to always on, so the laptop does not fall asleep.

The last complete date is not there. It just says never completed.

Hi again.

It looks like you are going to have to reinstall the product.

1. Download and run the Norton Removal Tool.

2. If you have the installation CD for N360V2,  use that to reinstall. If not, or you only have remote access, download the latest version of N360 from here, and install that.

Let us know.
