Norton 360 v 5.0 on Dell Laptop with Vista causing freezing

I recently installed Norton 360 verson 5.0 to my computer last week and ever since then my computer has been randomly freezing where I have to reboot it so much as four times a day.  I've also been getting the BSOD with a "memory management" message.  INstalling Norton was the only thing I've done to my computer recently and I assume it's the culprit.

anyone been having this problem or know how to fix it? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times to no avail :(

Hi,

what was your previous security suite?

If you used a Norton product, did you run the Norton Removal Tool before installing the new one?

I had version 4.0. I uninstalled it through windows control panel. I didn’t realize there was a tool. I’ve also run the defragmenter on my drive last night to see if that would help.

Hi ashleyphotos,

Welcome to the Norton Community...!!!!!!!

You can download the Norton Removal Tool using this website link www.norton.com/nrt and choose the option that you have a norton 2011 product and then you can ran the tool.

Also, If Possible, please let me know your system configuration like

Operating system               : Vista with 32 or 64 bit

Video card in your system : ?

Dell                                        : Computer Model

Please provide us the information that the blue screen error message gives you. The structure of the error message includes two or more of the following items:

  • A STOP message with a set of numbers, such as 0x0000001E (0xc0000006, 0xA011C102, 0x00000000, 0xA011C102)
  • A specific error, such as IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
  • The name of the file that is involved with the problem, such as Symevnt.sys

This will help to find out the exact reason for the blue screen in your computer. To find out if you have any threats, you can try creating Norton Bootable Recovery tool in CD, and use it:

http://security.symantec.com/nbrt/nbrt.asp?lcid=1033

You can also try to run Norton Power Eraser tool:

http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/DIY/index.jsp

Check if it detects any threats and if it does, please provide us the filename and other details.

I’m running vista 32b. I’m currently running the removal tool as well. I’m not sure how to check my video card.
