Yes it should have. I got infected with a virus when I couldnt scan the file.

I downloaded a program and my system (norton) didnt warning me at all.

When I started the *.exe file I got infected. I did a rescan on my pc and THEN my norton warned me for a virus. Shouldn´t Norton warning me before I dubble-click on that *.exe file, as you say?

Well Now I needed to format/reinstall win again.

Good job.

P.s. I downloaded the *.exe file again and burn it on a cd. I copy that file to my laptop that running under Vista Home 32 bit. I got no warnings there too :( When I scanned the file then Norton warned me...shouldn´t it warn me here also before??

To all Norton user who running under Vista. Pls try to download an infected file and test if the system warning you when you have the file on the desktop. DO NOT START the file, just put it on desktop...

Would be glad if somebody tryes it and put the result in this thread.

Hello,

Well its second time I reinstall Win Vista on my pc with my Norton product. I have a big problem.

In normal case you could right-click on a file/folder and scan it with Norton. I cant. I dont have that option. I tryed to install

my norton on my laptop with Vista Home Edition 32 bit and there its working.

So now to my question:

Doesn´t Norton scan (when you right-click on a folder/file) working with Vista 64 bit?

If not you should telling that to everyone or do an update as soon as possible.

We would be really interested in the exact file you were downloaded that did not get caught by our scanners.

Do you have any more information about that file? It's location, what it's intent was?

thanks,

Matt

Right click menus items are not available with Vista 64 bit. However there should be no reason to ever need to right click scan a file. For that file to get on your system, it will have already been scanned. Therefore running another scan will have no affect.
