I tried reading through some of the prior issues with this and didn't see a resolution to my problem.
In a nutshell, I had a computer crash (BSOD) and continuous looping every time you try to restart after that. I started it in Safe Mode and checked the Event Viewer -- which told me the Norton/Symantec DLL's weren't loading. So I uninstalled Norton completely and used the Norton Removal Tool to get it completely off in Safe Mode.
The removal first give me the option of saving passwords, if I was going to be reinstalling... which I said yes. It proceeded to backup the files and uninstall.
Restarted in normal mode and used it for an hour or so with no problems whatsoever; the Event Viewer was clear.
I reinstalled Norton 360 v4 (which doesn't expire for another 6 months); it immediately said it was restoring passwords and proceeded to fully install. I ran LiveUpdate to catch up to current version, which it did. After another restart I ran LiveUpdate again and it said all was up to date.
Computer works perfect, Norton 360 works perfect -- however it's telling me my password is incorrect for Identity Safe. I click the Hint and it gives me the correct hint, but when I put in the password - it says it's incorrect.
I looked in the Application Data folder for Norton and found the "IdentitySafeDataStore" folder... in there was a number of icon files and png graphic files for my password links. Futhermore, there was a pretty good sized IDDStore.dat file and a duplicate in size IDDStore_bak.dat file. I backed up all the data from this folder to have in case it gets deleted some how... but still can't figure out why it won't give me access.
Could the password have been changed to some new default password when re-installing v4.0? Any suggestions on how to get it up and running without losing all my password files?
TIA

Thanks, I already did that... here's a direct copy/paste of the version I am running...
Product Name: Norton 360
Version: 4.3.0.5
It still says my password is incorrect, although my Hint is still the same.
TIA

Even if you are showing 4.3.0.5 in the about box please go ahead and run LU a couple more times (probably will have to reboot in between) until you no longer get updates or the only update you get is a pulse update. Once you get there then try our Identity safe password login again.

Thanks BK! That finally worked.
That's a good thing to note for future problems others may have... even though they're showing 4.3.0.5, to keep updating until it no longer wants to update/reboot. That did the trick for me.
Much appreciated. I can relax now.
I just had the same thing happen to me with Norton 2010 (updated to 2011). I was having problems with it, and uninstalled it (clicking on YES to save my passwords and other info in Identity Safe), and then reinstalled it. But then my password didn't work anymore with Identity Safe, though it still offered the same hint. I was all ready to give up, but found this info in an online search. THANK GOODNESS!!! I tried it, and after about 3 or 4 additional Live Updates and restarts (till there were finally no more available updates), my password worked again and Identity Safe is back.
