Norton 360 v4 Online Backup Storage Problems

I advised a friend to backup her computers using Norton 360 Online Storage. She purchased 10GB and then 25GB additional Online Storage so that she now has a total of 50GB. Recently she reported warnings from Norton 360 as follows:

You have low storage for online backup. Please add more storage. Available Space: 2.1 GB. Total Space: 50.0 GB.

I checked the backup sets for her three computers and there is only roughly 11 - 12 GB of data being backup up between them, so I don't understand how she could have used nearly 50GB of storage already. Could you please explain why the storage utilization is so much greater than the actual data being backup up? What tools are available to mitigate the constant growth of the backup store?

I identified a backup set that was apparently created when Norton 360 was first installed and it had only 51 files with 3.8 MB - all old files. I was unable to delete the backup set itself because it does not exist in the pull-down list (probably because the OS had been reloaded on the machine where the set was originally created). How do I delete backup sets from the account that are no longer part of any Norton 360 installation?

Thanks in advance.
