Hi Everyone
Need some help setting up a XP Pro pc with Windows 7. Windows XP is running Norton 360 and Windows 7 running AVG Internet Security 2011.
How do I set up the XP pc with Norton 360 for file and printer sharing?
Thanks, Lawrence

Hi Lawrencep,
This article may be helpful:

To delphinium and SendofJive
I used the How To Geek link already to set up the two computers so that they are in the same homegroup. I'm trying a wired connection right now, and AVG on the Windows 7 PC seems to be in working order, as I can access the shared files from the XP machine. However, I can't access the XP system with the usb printer on it and Norton 360 from the Win 7 machine with AVG.
Both PC's can see each other, I can't get the Windows 7 PC with AVG to connect to the XP machine with Norton 360.
I have had a look in the Network Security Map, added a trusted PC with the Win 7's static IP address as it couldn't find it automatically and I also added in a Traffic rule with the same static IP but it didn't work.

Now left it some time and it seems whatever I did to Norton worked, as I can now access both PC's without any problem.
Does anyone know of another IP address other than 192.168.x.x?
I have something like that at the moment, only that the wireless network I'm using has this range too, and I'm trying to keep this wired network off of it.
Thanks
Your router will assign IP addresses in the 192.168.x.x range to all devices. You should not change that.
Hi SendofJive
Do you know how I could get round that? You see, whenever I assign 168.192.x.x and subnet 255.255.255.0 on the ethernet, I then can see other computers from my wireless connection using 168.192.2.x.
I need to make the ethernet undetectable from the wireless.
You should not be using internet-routable IP addresses on your LAN.
If the issue is isolating some PCs on the network from others, you can use the Norton Network Security Map to prevent other computers from communicating with the PC that has Norton installed. Or you could use two routers, as suggested here:

Thanks, that sounds like a good idea. For now I have them paired with a cross-over ethernet cable, but in the future maybe I could just swith it to a small switch.

SendOfJive's suggestion of using the Network Security map should work fine.
Any system that can connect through a wired LAN or Wifi has 2 seperate network adapters. The Security map identifies the devices by a MAC address that doesn't change. You will see that the same computer will end up showing up twice, once when using Wifi and again when using a LAN. Different permissions can be set for each network adapter, trusting the LAN's and blocking the WiFi's.
