Norton 360 V5 makes Windows file sharing unavailable

After upgrading V4 to V5 I cannot see "my network" anymore, which means I cannot access files shared by other computers in my network (those other computers are both Windows with file sharing enabled, and Linux with Samba installed).

Actually, right after installing V5 it was working, but after I did the first LiveUpdate update, V5 asked me to reboot the system, and after that it stopped working. When I uninstalled V5 the network file sharing started working again.

I tried this on Vista x64 and XP 32bit. Both have exactly the same behavior.

I don't see any other computers in the Network Security Map. I can only see my local computer there.

For now I downgraded to V4 and I hope they will fix it soon. It looks like a bug in V5 to me.

If the program set the network's trust level to the lowest one, it is possible it will not show you the other machines.

First please change the network's trust level.

It doesn't work.  As I said, I don't see the shared computer in the Network Map. Even though I set Trust Level to Full Trust.

How can I completely disable this feature for local network? I don't have any rogue devices in my local network anyway, so I don't need this protection.

By the way, the shared computer (with Samba) that I want to access is also my router. Can this be causing the problem?

I have the same problem. I have set the network PC to full trust but it cannot connect to the network share on my main PC (the one with Norton 360 on it)

I had some stability issues last week and could not access network shares but this was resolved by uninstalling Norton and then installing v5 again on Monday. Everything was fine on Tuesday when I booted my PC including network shares.

Today however I cannot access the network shares.  Any ideas?

Turn off the Smart Firewall from Norton 360. Check if you can connect to the network computer. If you can, you may have to try creating a firewall rule to allow communication to the network computer.
