I bought a whole new system which is 64 bit windows 7 and the I.E. 64 bit program does not show Norton. I called Norton and the tech fellow said that Norton 360 does not work at all in 64 bit I.E... This was a crushing disappointment. I realize I should have done more homework and known about this but alas, I didn't. Before I bite this bullet I want to inquire here if that is the final word on the Norton toolbar and safe, etc? I am aware that it will probably work in Firefox and I have the option t return to the 32 bit IE8, but it seems better to have the Norton product continuing its advantages in the 64 bit I.E. (I migrated my whole system with laplink PC Mover from my older XP system. Sio I have much fine tuning to go through. This forum has helped me greatly in the past, so I will be most grateful for any help.

Absolutely untrue for V5 -- I have it running now with Windows 7 64 bit Enterprise with IE8 ....
When you say "Does not show Norton" could you explain that more fully? Can you see that it is installed but just no menu entries or Icons or what?
Hang on for some feedback from people who are using it daily since mine is a testbed for WIN 7 64 as much as anything and I don't use the features of N360 actively -- just let it protect me.
Some boilerplate that may help others:
To get you the best advice, would you give us some more information about your system:
What version of Windows are you using including Service Packs and whether 32 bit or 64 bit as well as the Name and Version ID of the Norton product that you are using -- Help / About is where that is, in the format of nn.nn.nn.nnn
From what did you install N360 V5? A store bought CD or a downloaded file and from where did you download it -- was it downloaded to upgrade a V4 already installed or as a clean installation file from a Norton site recommended here?
If you get any error messages please give the exact wording of them as well as any other background that could be helpful.
Thanks very much for replying. I have consistently purchased Norton online from Norton and upgraded the same way in My Norton Account. Norton 360 v5.0.0.125 - Windows Home Premium 64 bit with V.6.1.7601 Service Pack 1. In IE8 64 bit there is no Norton option among toolbars as in the 32 bit. No sign of Norton and no error messages. My migration with Laplink Pc Mover from XP 32 bvit has left me with many odd problemns bvut then again, most things work. Your message makes me hopeful. I had a feeling the tech guy did not know for sure. But nobody is perfect!
Oh and noprton works and appeas everywhere else anbd in IE8 32 as always. It is only in the IE8 64 than it vanished.
I think that the toolbar is still not working on 64 bit systems but I'm sure they are working on it.
See if anyone else has information on this.
I have been running NIS 2010 and now NIS 2011 on a Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium System for over a year using the 32 bit IE8 as I desire to use the Norton Toolbar. I have upgraded to SP1 and get the same results.
The toolbar is still not available in IE 8 64bit in NIS 2011 - one would assume that it is also not available in 360 V5 yet.
I'm sure one of the Guru's using 360 V 5 will verify what I say - or correct me!

This is correct. The Norton Tollbar is not supported in the 64 bit version of Internet Explorer.
In the following link, under System Requirements, it clearly states that "Phishing Protection feature available only on 32-bit Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher or Firefox 3.0 or higher":
Also, read the information provided in the following link:
Eventhough it was posted during the release of Norton 2010, I think it is applicable for Norton 2011 and Norton 360 Version 5 as well.
