Norton 360 version 3.5.2.11 Back up

Hi. I have Norton 360 version 3.5.2.11 and I backed my "D" drive on my external drive, and it is also backed up on my "c" drive. However since my backup, my "d" drive crashed and had to be replaced. And now I am having trouble retrieving those files. Its like norton doesn't recognize the back up files. How do I get those files back onto my new "D" drive.

Thanks

If you are using N360 v3, check the backed up files for a program called ARestore.exe.  Run this file and you should be able to restore your backup files directly from it.

I'm sorry it is Norton 360 version 3.5.2.11. I tried using the Arestore.exe file. However it says "no backup sets found". The backup is on my external drive. Does that make a difference?

1. Do one of the following:

If you are using Norton 360 Version 3.0, navigate to the folder C:\Program Files\Norton 360\Engine\3.0.0.134, you can find a tool Arestore.exe

If you are using Norton 360 Version 3.0 Premier edition, navigate to the folder, C:\Program Files\Norton 360 Premier Edition\Engine\3.0.0.134, you can find a tool Arestore.exe

2. Do one of the following:

If you are using Norton 360 Version 3.0, navigate to the folder C:\Program Files\Norton 360\MUI\3.0.0.134\09\01, you can find a file Arestore.loc

If you are using Norton 360 Version 3.0, navigate to the folder C:\Program Files\Norton 360 Premier Edition\MUI\3.0.0.134\09\01, you can find a file Arestore.loc

3. Copy Arestore.exe and Arestore.loc to the root directory where you have saved the backup created using Norton 360 (along side the N360_BACKUP folder) and run Arestore.exe.  It will look in the N360_BACKUP folder for your backup set. In your case it is the external hard disk.

4. If it fails to find your backup set, you'll have to remove the corrupted catalog file. To do this, go into N360_BACKUP.  There should be a folder with a long alphanumeric name, open this folder.  You can see a file called backup.@db.  This is the catalog file.  You need to move this file out of that directory (put it on your desktop for safekeeping.)

5. Once backup.@db has been removed, go back and try running Arestore.exe again from the  root directory.
Note: This process may take a long time.

Just a thought, if you can see the N360_BACKUP folder in your ext drive, It may be possible to copy that Folder to the root drive of your PC.

If you already have a Folder named N360_BACKUP on you PC root folder, then you could copy the folders in the N360_BACKUP on your ext. drive , into the N360 Folder in the root drive of your PC .

You just may be able to restore them.
