Norton 360 very slow deleting backup data set with assoc files

Yesterday I removed an old backup data set--1.4GB & 11K files. It took about 6 hours. Now I'm working on 6.3GB & 47K files. It seems to be going slower--100 files in an hour. I am sure I have removed data sets of this size in the past. (I have had Norton for 6 years--not sure how long using backup--3 yrs?) I do not recall it being so slow. Is there any way to QUICKLY purge old data sets? Is there something wrong with my system? Windows Task Manager shows n360.exe using 50% of CPU. Usually get a message from Norton about high CPU usage if another program goes this high. (Running Pentium 4 3.2 GHz w/ 2GB RAM. Not cutting edge, but not 1999 either.) Update N360 has been running for almost 16 hours. So far less than 3,000 files have been scrubbed. Only 44,000 left to go. At this rate it will take 11 days to clear 6GB of files. It did not take this long for the original backup. There must be a faster way. Perhaps I should uninstall N360 and then reinstall it. [I will now attempt to figure this "Labels" thing. Wish me luck.]
