The secure VPN that came with my Norton 360 Deluxe won’t connect.
I only have the firewall that came with 360 enabled and no ports blocked.
I noticed that Norton VPN uses OpenVPN.
In that case, does VPN passthrough still need to be enabled in my router?
Which protocol? IPsec, PPTP, L2TP?
Okay so I've logged the connections and I can see an outbound connection from my PC's port 500 to the VPN server's port 500, but I don't get any response. Does this happen because I have IPSec passthrough disabled in my router?
But then my other question is, isn't Norton VPN based on Open VPN? Why does it need access to ports 500 and 4500??
mtnort1:
No it's 360 Deluxe.
Okay. Users report anomalies having Norton 360 Deluxe - VPN and Norton VPN stand-alone installed.
That's not you. Okay.
No it’s 360 Deluxe.
~ re-reading your opening post -
You only have Norton 360 Secure VPN. Meaning, you do not have Norton VPN stand-alone installed?
Thanks for the hints. Yeah I've tried all of those, but no luck.
The error that I'm getting is 809. So probably it can't access ports 500 and 4500. But the thing is that neither there firewall nor my router are blocking those ports, and I agree with you, I don't think passthrough is required.
What's more, I looked at Windows Events log, I see the message "The link to the Remote Access Server has been established by SYSTEM". But then after 5 second it shows the 809 error...
Any ideas?
fwiw ~ I've not needed to touch my router...other than changing Router Firewall security from High to Med.
Curious, do you receive any Norton Error: or Message: ?
fwiw ~ I imagine you've tried:
Windows
Connect to the "Auto-select" region ›
Uninstall and reinstall WAN Miniport drivers ›
Reset network adapter and TCP/IP stack ›
