Every once in a while my Norton 360 on my windows 7 laptop gives me a fix now alert and when I open Norton 360 its all white. I have pics to show. Can't do anything after this happens but remove Norton 360 and reinstall it. Any ideas or help would be greatly apperciated. Thanx for your time.
Welcome to the forum. I cannot yet see your images as they must be approved by a moderator before they are visible. However I do have a few questions.
Did you recently upgrade to Windows 7 and if so was N360 already installed on your old OS or did you install N360 fresh on Windows 7?
Do you have any other real time security software installed on your system (anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc)? Did you previously have any other real time software on your computer and if so how did you remove it before installing N360?
I will check back periodically to see when your images become available and respond further.
I did just upgrade to Windows 7 but and I did have Norton 360 installed but since I have done a complete uninstall of Norton 360 and reinstalled it. It was fine until the last update like a month ago it started this issue and this is the third time. I do NOT have any other anti virus programs installed because there would be a conflict. Thank you for the welcome.
Thanks for the update. Very good that you are aware of the potential conflicts if you were to have other real-time software installed. We always have to ask though.
If you had N360 installed in your previous OS and upgraded to Win 7 with it still installed there could be some issues. In such circumstances I question that a normal uninstall/reinstall would completely resolve it.
I would recommend use of the Norton removal tool and reinstalling N360 fresh. This will help ensure that any old remnants from your previous OS could be causing problems.
I'm pretty sure I did use the removal tool but I will try it again and go from there. Thank you for your quick response to try and resolve my issue. Will give an update at some point.
Thanks for the update. We will do everything we can to get this resolved for you. If the removal tool does not resolve this for you we will continue researching and troubleshooting until we do get this solved.
Please check the procedure referenced in the link I provided carefully. Sometimes it does require running the removal tool more than once to ensure everything is cleaned up completely.
Also be aware that the removal tool removes all Norton/Symantec software and remember to back up your Identity Safe first if you use that.
All this is mentioned in the link I provided.
By the way, please ignore the part in the other thread about the Trend PCcillin cleanup as that does not apply to you.
1. What is your 360's version that the installer contains? (Right click on the installer, select properties, and on the Details tab check the file version)
If it is older than 3.5.2.11, please download the latest package from here: www.norton.com/n360s_3 (standard) or www.norton.com/n360p_3 (premium). Older versions have some errors on win7.
2. Before the error happens, does Live Update downloads a patch that needs to reboot your PC? Recently there was an engine update (to 3.8), and maybe the update on your system causes some trouble...
To avoid it, after you install the latest version available on the links above, run Live Update manually until you get no other updates, and you had to reboot your system at least once because of the engine update.
It is the newer installer and I did the liveupdate 3 times and it is all up to date and will keep you informed if/when it does this again. Thank you guys for all your help up to now to try and resolve my issue. like I said will keep all posted on whats up with this.
