Cannot open Norton 360. A window pops up indicating "One Click Support" with error number 8504,100. I've tried everything tryng to open the Norton page to do a scan but I cannot. Any ideas?
Hi denlamour
The error message might mean you are infected with malware but try restarting your system a few times and if you can get updates manually as you restart. If that fails you might like to try booting into safe mode or safe mode with networking (see help and support from the start menu) and running a full scan but first disconnect the internet connection as Norton appears to be disabled in safe mode only allowing a full scan. You might like to back up your personal data first?

Hello ATB and thank You for responding.... I purchased the software and had 3 systems I could put it's on a close friends system. Needless to say, I've been trying to step her through what to do even with my limited knowledge. She did re-start the system...I tried to instruct her to do the safe mode boot but she said it was not working. I may have her try it again. I was think it was as you said Malware or maybe a conflict with another program. We tried opening Norton from all different directions but could not. I may just see if Norton will allow us to un-Install then re-install but I have to figure out if they will let her do that. I’m not sure even if we do that that it will resolve the problem. Good Idea on the back-up.......Thanks again.
Hi denlamour
I’m intesec not ATB that means, all the best, its ok no offence taken. There are two links below that came up the first with, error number 8504,100, the second with, 8504,100, and the solution on one is for 8504,1 which might be different or just mistyped.
Check the computer clock for time day and year.
As you mentioned conflicting software, have you or have you had any other security software on the system. If so the process needs the software uninstalled using the add/remove windows programme then run the correct removal tool for the specific version of the security software that can be downloaded from the software’s main website then restart the computer.
You might like to check the disk (see help and support from the start menu) it has to be requested then is actioned on a restart it can take a very long time and it is important that it finishes so use mains power.

Hello my helpers,
She tried the "Norton Removal Tool" and a window popped up which indicates "Extraction Failed" "File is Corrupt" and the only option is Clicking "OK" whcih closed it and I guess it removes nothing. Should we try uninstalling through the Control Panel?
I also check for other security programs and she just has the basic Windows one and her settings are the same as mine and I have no issues.
It's touch to try these options when she has dificulty understanding the basics. I'm trying the easier fixes first.
Getting that message above....any other ideas?
Thanks!
Dennis
You may not need the Norton Removal Tool. You may be able to do the job with the Norton Removal and Reinstall tool.
Download and run the NRNR from www.norton.com/nrnr Be sure to back up the Identity Safe data if that feature is used. Also be sure to run LiveUpdate, rebooting as necessary until no updates are available.
This will give a fresh install of the product for you to see if the problems go away.
