Norton 360 will not open on desktop. I only see white window with spinning circle. I tried remove only with the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool. Finally, the screen opened. Norton 360 has been acting up on opening since yesterday.
Run Liveupdate and then restart your computer. Restart, not shutdown and startup again.
This keeps happening to me as well for the past 2 days. I ran rand r last night and itās made no difference. Itās completely random when Norton 360 decides it no longer wants to play. If I right click on the Norton 360 icon I have on my taskbar and select something like ārun liveupdateā sometimes I get liveupdate running and sometimes I get a blank (white) window pop up with the busy spinner which stays like that until I get fed up and force close the window. Itās all down hill from there as shortly after left or right clicking or attempting any other method to open Norton 360 just fails; I get nothing. On restarting the pc, the restarting ttakes so long that I eventually power down the PC and power it back up. Then Norton 360 may or may not be accesible and may or may not stop working during the short periods I spend on my PC. Itās a cluster! Version: 25.9.10453.1989.
Looks like more than an isolated issue. I have the same issue. Upon clicking on the Norton 360 icon on the system tray, instead of the applicationās main screen, Iām presented with a spinning blue circle.
Clicking on LiveUpdate takes you to the spinning blue circle. It looks like the application is not responsive.
The concern here is protection for the user. Is it still working?
Shambles.
Exactly the same issues that I am seeing and finally 360 was working, but I suspect that could happen again even with removing and reinstalling especially on non-admin accounts. I checked admin theory by running shortcut as administrator and same result when it was not working. Thanks for confirming that the issue is not just with my device.
Sometimes, I have observed that leaving the window open with the spinning circle for a long time can eventually bring the Norton display back.
I tried to run LiveUpdate with the issue by right clicking on Norton 360 system tray icon and running LiveUpdate. The result was white window and spinning circle.
I have also intermittently encountered this. On the plus side, Norton still seems to be checking for things, and Windows says itās doing its job.
I can also get it to open at times by going into Airplane mode, so I think this is something on Nortonās end. If Iām right, the interface gets hung up on some step that involves checking in with Nortonās servers.
As an example of the intermittent nature of this, when I first posted, I was encountering this issue. Just now, I am not. I expect it to fluctuate as such until whatever the cause is resolved.
All: On my side I am not seeing LU staging and freezing on my Windows 10 Pro and Windows 11 Pro machines. Remove and reinstall IS NOT a solution for backend infrastructure issues though. Having a look activation services shows as having had recent issues.

Hi there.
Logged on W11 24H2 mid morning.
POP-UP, offering % renewal, deposit CC, certainly notāOnly offered ācloseā, not ādonāt show me this againā. Closed, I guees this was the start of the rotā
I always update to current, after boot-up. Right-Click taskbar/ sys tray icon, ārun live updateā,
Smart Scan, closed UI. All good. Some time later reopened UI, white UI of death. Taskbar / sys tray icon indicate āyou are protectedā. Had a look in Windows Security, all good.
Logged out and back in, no good. Restarted, same as initial boot. Instantly here; but white UI of death subsequently. Restarted again, as I write the UI is behaving itself. So, Iāll go with that.

I have access to two computers with Norton, and it seems to be that when there is an āopen the menuā issue with one, there is with the other. This, and the fact that it will open just fine in airplane mode at those times, suggests that opening the UI attempts a connection, and that connection is hanging.
To my mind, this implies a lack of error handling for such a thing (the attempt allowed to continue indefinitely), and that there is a networking issue on Nortonās end. This could be difficult to diagnose, as Iām pretty sure the userās literal location could be a factor in whether they experience it.
Assuming I am correct, and it is a networking issue, a partial fix would be an update that that doesnāt hang the interface when whatever connection is being attempted fails.
today - Software Updater is goneā¦
Last night I did a check, just to see if anything need“s an update.
But now - nothing. Nothing is āUp to Dateā or āignoredā anymore and you can not even click in the
black field.
Reboot, still nothing ⦠maybe my software is gone ![]()
Its still showing in settings my side.

This seems to be what Iāve been experiencing too. The Norton 360 window doesnāt open for 15-20 minutes and only the spinning wheel icon shows up. Turning off the internet sometimes helps and makes the window responsive. Update Manager doesnāt show any apps. Weirdly, I donāt have any issues on another Windows 11 PC that uses the same Norton subscription, internet network and everything.
now I got it too ā¦
running live update from the Norton icon led me to the white circle of deathā¦
Having the same problem for the last 3 days, tried to repair, it says repaid finished, same problem with the black circle just spinning around for half an hour, Norton had a serious solid version with 24, after it got avastized its just awful. Nobody can recommend a solution? Some update coming soon? Should i look for a different vendor?
Same issue now for me with spinning circle.
I had restarted my machine after a few days of 24/7 and all was working well with Norton UI and now after the restart the the UI is not opening.
Edit: After waiting awhile and restarting again N360 opens quickly.
Iāve been having this issue for about 4 days now. When I try to run Live Update, I get the white box but no update. Iāve tried to close it via task manager, but no luck. If I try to restart my computer, it hangs on the black restarting screen with the spinning circle, forcing me to do a hard shut down/restart.
This morning it took 4 hard restarts to get it to finally work.
This happened yesterday on a family members new laptop as well.
So far Iāve used the Norton uninstall/reinstall tool, rebooted numerous times and made sure my vide drivers are up to date.
Norton - Please work on a fix for this ASAP!
i got it last night i thought maybe laptop was acting up restarted and same result the white screen as all others mention, confused i reinstalled ( using rnr tool) went abit slow but did work, it had me enter the keycode thing again ( i know might not be correct name) and than let me sign in, went and checked al the settings most if not all seemed to remain as they were
did the repair norton tool to be on safe side
restarted and checked again seemed ok
this morning ( not being on since restart and power off last night) same thing again with the white screen
restart and when i tried to open norton it was delayed but did open as it should
