Norton 360 won't run a virus scan or any scan? help please!

The program tells me that I need to run a PC Security scan but there is no where to click to "fix" or "run scans." I can open the Main window, but cannot open the Task and Settings window or my Account window. I cannot get the software to restart or run any sort of scan.

Also, I'm running a Malware scan right now and it's picking up all sorts of stuff. Uh oh.

Hi bellawrites, MBAM found some stuff but the log indicates no action taken. You should let MBAM fix what it finds.

There is Trojan Vundo on there which is likely to be a stinker.  You will need to remove everything that MBAM can, update again, and then run another full scan to see if it was able to remove the Vundo.

okay, I ran the scans twice, let it remove everything, ran the scans again...but Norton still isn't functioning.

Could you run this scanner.

http://www.gmer.net/

After it is downloaded to your desktop, right click on the icon, go to properties, and click unblock and apply.  You will need to save a log in Notepad.  If it causes a blue screen, try it again in safe mode with only services and registry checked.

Hey! Actually, I ran the Malware scan again and restarted my computer again and now everything seems to be working! Thanks for the help!

Hi bella

It might still be a good idea to run that Gmer scan. The new type of rootkits that are out there want you to think that things are ok, but they may not be. Malwarebytes might have cleaned up the malware right now and your N360 may appear to be working ok. The real culprit though may still be lurking inside of your computer.
