On two separate occasions, after allowing Windows updates to be installed on my computer during the shut down process, Norton 360 would not start up the next time I started my computer. I have the desktop N360 icon but could not manually start N360 from the icon or from the program listings. I'm running Windows XP Home Edition and I have SuperAntiSpyware free edition installed. After one of these episodes I've found that I must uninstall SuperAntiSpyware and N360, install N360 and finally install SuperAntiSpyware for N360 to start up upon computer start up as it should. Should I do anything with N360 before I allow Windows updates to prevent whatever problem that N360 is having? Thanks for the help.
You should not have to do anything with Norton before running Windows updates.
Do you have Sp3 installed for your XP?
Did you try a couple of extra reboots after installing the Windows updates? Sometimes more than on reboot will straighten out updating installations.
I have Service Pack 3 installed. I did not try extra reboots this time. The first time I had this issue, I tried a couple of reboots which did not help. Thanks for your help.
It can never hurt to try a couple of restarts to reset everyting on your system.
What version of 360 are you using? Click on Support - About from the main 360 screen.
Try clicking on Support - Get Support to run Autofix to check your Norton installation and fix what it finds.
