Norton 360 won't start with Lenovo Thinkpad - Norton AutoFix: Error 8504,101 - uninstall RapidBoot

Additional information to the message with the title "Norton 360 won't start with Lenovo Thinkpad", started on 02-12-2012: solution suggested by yank and verified by dkoontz.

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T420. When during the session there was an update of Norton 360 and I rebooted the system, Norton 360 didn't react anymore. However, a couple of minutes later Norton AutoFix informed:

Norton 360 Premier Edition, 6.0.0.145 (the same with 6.1.2.10)
Error (Fehler): 8504, 101
Windows 7 Professional (64 bit)
Installation: reboot required (Neustart erforderlich)

As dkoontz I tried everything without success ... was somewhat desperate.

Then I found and followed the suggestion of yank and removed RapidBoot, reinstalled Norton 360 (currently 6.2.1.5) and it worked fine again.

Great ... thanks a lot!

Thanks Hugh for the info, but the fact still remains that it needs to be uninstalled on the systems that it causing problems with.

Well surely -- I was giving people a reason for not blaming Norton and not being concerned at losing a feature of their system ... that's Lenovo's problem .... for once!
