Norton 360 wont turn on

Norton 360 will not open nor will the internet toolbar work I have a local vault i cannot get into to save a copy of is there a way i can get a backup for my vault passwords so i can export it to a reinstalled antivirus?

I know i can use the norton remover and remove the program for reinstalling but i need to backup my vault before.

i followed the steps but it did not work i wasnt able to use the uninstall/reinstall norton program so i had to use the uninstall and reinstall myself after i did that i logged in went to import and realized the 2 files i copied did not copy correctly or were missing that iddstore2 file

Hi DarkKnightRasil.

First of all, my bad, the file you need is not IDDStore2, rather IDDStor2 (no e in the name).  Is that file present?

I bit more info would have been helpful as to why "i wasnt able to use the uninstall/reinstall norton program" - was there any error and what exactly did it say?

Was there an error in rwegards to not copying correctly?

Also which two files did not copy correctly?  The instructions asked for you to copy a folder prior to opening a single file ( IDDStor2).  If you meant there were 2 folders named    S-1-5-21  (random generated number), you need to copy the most recent one.  Can you open that file and see if there is a IDDStor2.dat and IDDStor2.bak included in it?

The more feedback you can provide into exactly what happened, the better we can assist you.

dont know if i can still do it after the first post i saved the [identitysafedatastore] file and removed norton and reinstalled after i reinstalled the folders i had moved all the files in them moved over into the newly installed norton but i cant or dont know how to use them.

when i go back into the file location

C:\ProgramData\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\N360_21.2.0.38\IdentitySafeDataStore\S-1-5-21-828117923-1066980479-4101417427-1000\110ff7f37c3445228b4fd8d5138f9bb5

I can see the files that copied over that moved into the new downloaded norton the only files i saw were ico files with icons that look like all the websites i had passwords on and a few .dat with long names.

I tried to do a system restore to go back before i uninstalled norton but  all of my system restore points are gone except for right after i reinstalled norton.

You stated you removed and reinstalled N 360 - how did you do that?

Did you run any tools?  Like the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool or the Norton Removal Tool (after uninstalling Norton via the Control Panel.

Do you know if you still have the Local Vault?

Has your Norton toolbar returned?

Can you now open N 360?

I used the norton removal tool   I was unable to uninstall using windows uninstall so i had to use that tool to remove it.

After that i downloaded a new version of norton 360.

NNorton toolbar has returned and I do have access to norton 360 program

as for the local vault i do not know i either cannot find it or all my passwords are gone.  I can log into a online vault using a different password than what i used for my vault previously like a longer password.

Sorry to tell you this, but it sounds like the running fo rht Norton Removal Tool and the fersh installation of N 360 has done away with your Local Vault and all you have left is an Online Vault.

Did you at any point in time do an Export (backup) of your ID Safe Data?  If you did, you can log into your Online Vault, Select Vault is open > select Open Identity Safe on the drop down > Select the gear Icon at the bottom of the Logins page > Select the Import/Export Tab > and Import your data.  If you do not have an Export to Import, it appears youneed to start rebuilding your logins.

The IDDStor2 file I mentioned earlier is only available if you have a Local Vault, whici it appears you did away with when you reinstalled the fresh copy f N 360.
