Norton 360anti spam

I have been running Norton 360 and the auto generated norton message rules was sending suspected spam to the Norton AntiSpam folder.  After the last update, it started sending suspected spam to my 'Real Estate' folder, which is where I keep my business-related files.  I am unable to modify or delete the message rule, and Tech Support is without a clue.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

Hi,

can you please tell us the exact version of your Norton product?
1. Open the main window
2. Click on Help & Support -> About menu
3. On the About window find the version number (it will look like this: 5.1.0.29)

Also include please which E-mail client and version you use.

Thanks!

I'm using Norton 360, V5 with Outlook express, version 6.  Operating system is Windows XP, SP3 with the last update completed within the past 10 days.

Please try this out:

1. Open 360 and close Outlook Express if it is opened

2. Go to the 360 Settings page

3. Go to Antispam settings and turn off the client integration for Outlook Express

4. Save settings and close 360

5. Run Outlook Express, download the actual mails with it, than close the program

6. Open 360, and turn back the client integration for Outlook Express

7. Run Outlook

Let us know how the spam filtering works now.

OK, I tried that, and I tried  restoring the computer to an earlier configuration (won't let me go back beyond the last update, when the problem arose).  Mail rules still show messages containing "Norton AntiSpam" being directed to the real estate folder, not the Norton AntiSpam folder.  Tried deleting or modifying the Norton AntiSpam rules, and can't do either.

Can you change the rules when the Antispam client integration or the whole Antispam feature is turned off?

Will not let me modify the rule, or delete the rule, with or without the antispam feature.  As a last resort, I'm going to uninstall Norton, then reinstall.  It's a royal pain, but that's the only thing that I can come up with that is reasonably sure to solve the problem.

Eureka!  Before uninstalling, I took the following steps.  I moved the real estate folder to the Norton Anti Spam folder.  (Recall that Norton was sending spam to the real estate folder, not the anti spam folder?)  Then I deleted the Norton Anti Spam folder, along with the real estate folder that was in it.  Next, I closed Outlook, then opened it.  Norton reconfigured Outlook, restoring the Norton Anti Spam folder, deactivated the original "Auto Generated Norton AntiSpam Rule" and wrote a new rule sending spam to the anti spam file!

Thanks for your ideas, they were appreciated.

Thanks letting us know :).
