Vista PC with default firefox browser - 360v3 one click support does not connect… any suggestions? Working fine on other 2 pc’s - xp & vista w/no firefox.
Hi tm,
Try to set the Internet Explorer as the default browser in your computer and then try accessing One Click Support. I think, OCS requires IE to be the default browser for the communication. Let us know how it goes. Better run LiveUpdate repeatedly until you see the message "No more updates..." before trying to use One Click Support.

Thanks Yogesh! Your suggestion worked -- however I also had to uninstall Internet Explorer 8 RC1 and go back to IE7. All set.
Thanks again.
If you don't mind me asking, how did you know to revert to IE7 and what, if any, effects does it have on things such as bookmarks, associated programs, plug-in etc?
Thank you much,
Mumford68
Hi Yogesh,
If that is true it is too bad as Firefox's #3 version has been out for a little bit of time now (now at 3.0.7). Although thinking about it, N360 V3 was probably in the last stages of beta testing and thus mostly written when FF came out with their version. Hopefully updates by one or both companies will allow the hanging situation (from which I have also been encountering) to be fixed somewhere down the road.
If nothing else it teaches me not to use products in their beta form, although it is interesting to be a part beta testing it can cause problems and open up security risks. Atleast I learned something :)
Hi mumford68,
I strongly beleive now that tm's issue was due to IE8- RC1 (Release Candidate 1) rather than the firefox being set as default browser. I was not aware of the IE version until he/she posted that. As you know, Symantec products do not support IE8 officially since it is still in BETA phase and so the product compatibility issues can be expected. Since IE under goes different changes in the BETA phase, there is no guarantee for the working ability of the features such as browser protection, phishing protection. It may work or sometimes it may not. This is because the One Click Support should work irrespective of the default browser set in the computer. I forgot to ask tm to check this issue by setting Firefox back to his/her default browser since the current version of IE is 7.0.

Although the user may not check back on this thread as it has been solved I would be interested to know if Firefox works for the user now. I had long wondered how much, if any, that Firefox might depend on or work off of Internet Explorer.
If they don't respond here or another thread and same fix applied does not pop up very shortly I'll do it myself and be able to tell. I was just kind of happy that IE8-RC1 was running smoothly for the most part and not especially want to tinker with it :)
As always, thank you for your input,

You can always PM him and depending whether he set it up that way he will get an email that one is waiting even if he does not come back into this thread. Or if he subscribed to the thread -- default for the poster? -- then he will get an email that there is a message here.
Yes Absolutely. I try to avoid it as much as possible until I know the person a little bit better, otherwise you all may have ended up with many messages form me :)
I'll PM and await a response.
Good looking out as always.
Oh, and just in case, although I think anyone who paruse's the forum's regularly already knows, I am running:
WinXp Home 32-bit sp2
Firefox 3.0.7 / IE8-RC1
2.6 Ghz Single CPU
1.5 GB RAM
If it should make any difference with any issues at hand, which in this case probably not.
Hi Yogesh,
Yes indeed. I uninstalled IE8-RC1 and am using Firefox 3.0.7 as the default browser and have forced the OCS both with a known issue to make it pop up and through the Help & Support feature and it seems to have no difficulties.
Thank you for mentioning it and whatever time you spent to gather the information to come to your conclusion!
Take care,
Mumford68
Thanks mumford68,
Good work in confirming the same, I have not started testing with IE8 -RC1 though.
